Why You Can't Call The Roberts Court 'Conservative' Any Longer

In all seriousness, Joe should convene a meeting with his Secretary of Defense and Attorney General to assess whether trump, Roberts, Thomas, Alito, Gorsuch, and Rapey are official threats to our constitutional order and, if so, how they should be extrajudicially neutralized.

Look on the bright side. The Biden administration no longer has to abide by court rulings as long as this is done in an official capacity.

And who will decide whether it’s an official act?

Is this a good time to get Cannon removed?

The “Roberts Court” has never been conservative. Rather, it has always been Republican.

That is under John Roberts, the Supreme Court has been little more than the enforcement arm of the RNC enacting its political aims at every chance.

How about we (Congress with the support of President Biden) just take away their special protective security details they were extended and afforded a couple of years ago after some civil unrest for their shitty decision-making.

ETA: The wingnuts on the court have become a bunch of pampered, spoiled, corrupt and totally insular assholes.

Btw, does anyone believe for a moment that Biden would get the same treatment as tRump in a court on the issue of immunity? These decisions are being fashioned for tRump and maybe other rightwing presidents to follow.

I think this is not a job for the DOD or DOJ – more likely for @castor_troy

I am confused, as usual. I assume that if Sotomayer does not like the decision and Trump does, then it must be bad. But I also heard some talking heads on msnbc saying that most of what Trump did around the election were not official acts. That would seem obvious. Such as harassing your VP and threatening people etc. It seems to me that just saying NO to immunity period would have been better, but at least he does not get total immunity. If he does, then Biden should state that Trump is a menace and a threat to the Republic and have him hauled off to Gitmo.

The President. He’s immune. Determining the proper scope of his authority is within his scope of authority.

so, if the COURT gives Trumpf immunity…can BIDEN shoot him, on stage, and walk away from it?

After this decision, would it make any difference if it went to another judge? Procedural delays now mean that nothing will get very far by November in any of these cases. So we’re back to the election deciding Trump’s fate one way or another.

I heard some of the testimony to the court and one of the justices ask if pressuring judges was an official act and the answer was no. Along with asking officials to release false stories to promote the whole election nonsense and that was not an official act either. . I am not sure that answers the question of who decides what an official act is. I would assume a judge would do that. But at what point?

Yep. According to their own ruling, Biden would be acting on his official duty as President as an official act to responsibly remove the deadweight on the court.

And has been in a spiral for quite a while - starting back in the Bush years.

He and I-lean discussed it over dinner. Leonard Leo picked up the tab…and sent it to Harlan.
