What To Make Of The Supreme Court Taking Trump’s Immunity Case?

  • It doesn’t matter if the Supremes are slow rolling on purpose or what the motivation is. I personally think that more than one (Alito and Thomas for sure) are trying to run blocking for Trump, but it doesn’t matter.
  • The upshot is that the justice system will not save us from a second Trump presidency. This is something that Josh Marshall has been signaling for some time.
  • People are waking up to this inconvenient fact. I include myself in this as I thought it reasonably likely he would be convicted before the election. I no longer think that is the case.
  • The only things that are going to end the Trump era:
    a) Being voted down again
    b) Trump dying
  • The only thing that is in our power to do is to try and come to peace with this fact and vote. That’s it. Try your hand at persuasion if you want, but be aware that your anger and despair work will work against any chance at actual persuasion.

There was no doubt that people were shocked, angry, unhappy and frightened when the SC decision was announced. But we all knew that with this court one that Trump calls his Supreme Court, it was always a real possibility. And here we are.
But time to get to work. Joyce Vance was a good read for me this morning, as was a comment to her post.

I’m sure my sixth great grandfather and his few comrades left of the Revolutionary Army that Christmas Eve of 1776 were scared and many were disillusioned, but they held their personal honor enough not to desert that night when they manned the boats and crossed the Delaware River with General Washington and then hid in the snowy forest until morning when they took Trenton Barracks and the Hessians surrendered and the Revolution was saved.

Every battle since has been won by people who were scared to death and did it anyway. There wasn’t anyone in the landing craft shouting “Hurrah” as they grounded on Omaha Beach 80- years ago.

Buck up. You have a lot of company. Do it anyway.

We can and will do this.

I sort of wonder if you had talked to a a young Evangelical Christian woman? Would you get the same reaction?

Right now, a great many Republicans are back on their heels owing to the sheer audacity of the Alabama SC ruling. But give them time. They’ll all eventually get behind it four square and true.

TDFG is merely the shiny object to keep the ignorant masses diverted while the real action occurs behind the scenes. Leonard Leo and his oligarchs are systematically looting the country while the media chases after the layest outrage to crank up the hoi polloi. We’re almost to the talking walls in Fahrenheit 451.

Looking at real estate in Canada?

… bear in mind that if it is “worst case”, if TFG goes “dictator” on day one … (and , of course, just never finds the off switch)
Then - it won’t be long before his buddy Vlad goads him into stealing Canada - “rescuing it from communism” … “quelling the northern border threat”.

50 Trillion dollars redistributed from the rest of us to the 1% over the past several decades. Thanks in part to the odious Mitch McConnell. Kentucky was in essence, the navel of the USA. Soon that might shift to South Dakota. An improvement, or will we get buffaloed?

Here is is for those that have not seen it
On MSNBC’s “Deadline: White House,” hosted by Never Trump conservative Wallace, Luttig laid out some reasons why the High Court’s decision to hear Trump’s immunity claims is such a bombshell.

The problems would go away if Congress legalized insurrections, coups, violent attacks on the Capitol, overthrow of election, arbitrary anointment of Skanky and Wanky’s whores as electors and other patriotic activities immediately. Let us trample on the Constitution, destroy democracy and do things that filthy conservative turd Scalia would want.

Joe needs to change his support of murder. I do not support either side in this war. Both are flagrantly cruel and inhumane… evil
And guilty of atrocity which both need to answer for. This is unreasoning hatred. Each sees the other as non-human objects to abuse and kill.
