WATCH LIVE: Impeachment Hearing With Ambassador Gordon Sondland | Talking Points Memo

But if you say them in a sardonic tone of voice then everyone understands how laughable it is to even imagine such things could be.

Weak CYA-ing.

I see where heā€™s going. He couldnā€™t remember everything when Pompeo denied his access to his notes, e-mails etc. Iā€™ll take it as a finger pointing defense as long as itā€™s finally truthfulā€¦

Because most Americans under 40 donā€™t watch the news, local or national, not having cable or bother with antennas and spending most of their ā€œTVā€ time playing video games, engaging in social media or watching streaming shows. The nature of todayā€™s media, being so diffuse, and the media habits of todayā€™s younger people, means that most just arenā€™t paying attention and literally donā€™t know whatā€™s going on beyond that thereā€™s impeachment going on.

I bet that 7 or 8 people out of 10 under the age of 40 canā€™t name more than 2 or 3 people on either side in all this, beyond Trump, Rudy and Pelosi. We have become a nation of uninformed, disengaged political imbeciles and itā€™s mostly the fault of new media, and the he said/she said way that most non-partisans view politics. And Dems arenā€™t doing a good job of reaching out IMO, still relying mostly on old media and traditional process, e.g. news conferences, hearings and press statements.

We need our own, 21st century media infrastructure, to compete with the GOPā€™s.

Well the freeps seem to be getting it and they are 100% trumpsters

I am worried about this guy. Might not be a good day for the President. May God be in this hearing today

Whatever tone Nunes used. Iā€™m not watching, got to get ready and go out, but Iā€™m monitoring it all seismically via Twitter.

That will depend on the headlines, purely and simply. If the press coverage indicates Trump Demanded Quid Pro Quo, itā€™s the end. If it gets lost in the shuffle, well then there will be a lot more work to do.

Even that wouldnā€™t be enough as most non-partisans, i.e. those whose views are not fixed, arenā€™t following closely if at all and donā€™t even know what quid pro quo means. Weā€™re dealing with infantiles and imbeciles, grown people who spend all their free time texting and sexting and instagramming each other, playing video games, watching Housewives and fixer upper shows, and binging shows. Theyā€™re just not into politics, and something stronger than damning headlines is needed. Itā€™s like weā€™ve fallen into a collective stupor, at least among non-partisans. Itā€™s a recipe for disaster, the tuning out.

Do you live in a red state, I am not seeing that here in Virginia

Well, if it moves some non-Trumpie Repubs against him, who knows. But I donā€™t see it moving many non-partisans, who are nearly completely disengaged.

Queens, NYC. Literally no oneā€™s talking about this, when Iā€™m in public. Itā€™s like itā€™s not happening.

My daughter in Brooklyn doesnā€™t talk about it either, but I figured that it was because just living in NYC on a daily basis takes up most of her energy.

That is why Iā€™m saying in the headlines. I know they donā€™t follow things in depth. And I didnā€™t intend to write the headlines so Iā€™m not recommending that itā€™s my wording that needs to be used.
I, in fact, doubt that quid pro quo would be in any headlines. What I hope to see and think we need to see is simply that Sondland is blowing the Republican cover story and throwing their ridiculous fig leaf in the dust.

Sondlandā€™s like a 9 year old who had never spoken before whose first words are a recitation of The Gettysburg Address.
