Bring it on. Two things I’m expecting:

1 - Schiff to call out the threats against Vindman - heinous and it needs to be called out, made a part of the record and reminded to the GOP that the whole world is watching and it’s not limited to Fox News.

2 - Sondland will take the fifth alot or he will turn against his original testimony and may even be threatened with perjury. Schiff needs to remind the witness he is under oath and penalty for perjury.

Other than that, not expecting much - this should all play out for me in the first half hour. Additional corroboration which the GOP will try desperately to discredit - wash, rinse, repeat over the last several days.

I hope that Dems don’t intend for impeachment to be based solely on the testimony of those who were willing to testify and evidence they were able to obtain, and to limit it to only the Ukraine quid pro quo, and expect that to make the difference in public opinion, because that won’t work. It’s not 1974 and we’re living in a very different time in terms of public engagement in politics and the way it gets its news. The lack of movement in polls after weeks of hearings proves this.

IMO impeachment MUST be expanded to include other scandals and crimes, especially Trump’s Russia-Putin connection, and that of his allies like Rudy, and it MUST emphasize the obstructive aspect of the administration’s response to impeachment, its ordering witnesses not to appear, its refusing to release evidence, and Barr’s abuse of power to protect Trump and others. It has to take on such dramatic qualities that people who usually tune out politics start following it.

Of the fundamentally impeachable acts, Russia dwarfs Ukraine, and of all the impeachable acts, obstruction dwarfs them all. If Dems don’t make it about these in addition to Ukraine, and do so in a loud and demonstrative manner, then they’re fools, there’s zero chance of removal, and it won’t damage the GOP much next year. For these to happen, the public must turn on Trump and the GOP, and for that to happen, impeachment has to become a lot more “dramatic” and compelling so that more non-partisans follow it. That’s how politics works these days, like it or not.

There have to be court battles, media battles, political battles, etc., and it can’t all take place in hearings, which most people find dry and boring and tune out. It has to become a media circus, like the OJ trial or a Housewives show, or else it won’t help Dems let alone remove Trump. Dems have to get past their obsession with regular order and process (and stop hiding behind it to avoid bruising media battles) and realize that this is how politics works these days.
