Ukrainian Government To The US: Please Leave Us Out Of Your Mess

We don’t know for sure how impeachment will shake out politically.

We DO KNOW that Trump deserves to be impeached. He is unfit, corrupt, and mentally unstable.

Why ignore a clear moral imperative because of a merely possible political outcome? Do the right thing and at least be able to sleep at night.

Trump: “Fuck You Democracy”

Congressional Dems: “Thank you Sir, may I have another?”

Bingo.

Sadly, they don’t see how exposing Trump’s corrupt actions is actually their quickest way out of the mess. Trying to stay on the sidelines isn’t going to work as Trump will cross any boundary irregardless of legality or morality.

Exactly.

Though I do understand that Democrats understand that outrage journalism and scandal is profitable and we can’t have another Obama type presidency

Bring silent as GOPers are doing is supporting Trump’s corrupt behavior.
The Ukranians need to know that everything trump touched dies. Don’t hold onto his coat tails. trump’s way of life is corrupt so he has never learned any other way to do things. He had no idea at the time that pulling a blackmail stunt like he did was illegal. I don’t mean that in his defense. I’m just stating his shortcoming.

And Biden too.

Fire prosecutor or no aid.

Pretty normal diplomatic request.

Funny how when it’s said here in forum, it evolves to international discussion of America, Ukraine & Russia’s interconnected roles.

Yet, America consistently makes request in exchange for military & humanitarian aid.
Pretty darn traditional norm.

Bush withheld aid for birth control in Africa & his abstinence only focus for 7 years was major cause of escalating AIDS epidemic.

So, it’s NORMAL diplomacy. Traditional American diplomacy.

Ukraine needs to give us transcript of call just like they fired prosecutor when Biden demanded that in exchange for billions in military aid.

No sht, Sherlock…however, if you ‘think’ for one minute Donnie cares what YOU think when he doesn’t care what his own country thinks, you are in for a rude awakening.

Trolling is so much like rolling…new people…new facts to slant

Actually, I would suggest that his best play is to stall for time and see how this plays out. Chances are that Donnie has screwed the pooch here, but dumping him now will certainly bring at least short term pain.

Let’s not forget that Donnie has had it in for the Ukraine since he messed with the Republican Party platform to screw with commitments to that country, so no reason to think he’ll ever “do the right thing” by them, except to cause collateral damage elsewhere. So short term they need allies who can help guarantee their safety, so I’d be working the nations of the EU, especially Germany and France, to line up a backstop. Then, watch to see if we can finally clean up our own mess and get sane leadership back, at which point we can again lend a hand.

And let’s be clear - this behavior from Donnie and his minions is causing deep and long-lasting damage to our standing with the free world. Repairing that will not be easy, but a clear conviction and expulsion of Donnie and a gaggle of his henchmen will be a necessary if not sufficient first step…

Looks to me to be a bouquet of cauliflower and broccoli, but knowing about Donnie’s tastebuds, it can’t be…

But the executive branch of the government isn’t asking them for any transcript, and they can’t deal officially with the House in any legal way I’m aware of, so they’re in a difficult position here. Their best scenario is simply to be left out of what they see as a domestic partisan issue, however serious and internationally consequential it might be.

I think Ukraine is more interested in not angering Vlad than 45*.

Zelinskiy said no to the rose.

It’s a very nice carnation display symbolizing the purity of America sullied with the broccoli of Democrats.

And if the political outcome stands a fair chance of leading to mass extinction, how well will your morals allow you to sleep then?

That theory had not occurred to me.

… told Reuters that the country wants to maintain good relations with the U.S.

Yeah, Ukraine better remember this corrupt administration is temporary.

Or perhaps they’re signaling they have no intention of clarifying the record.

I just hope that, when Chiselin’ Trump and Zelenskiy hold a presser after their meeting, some member of the press asks Zelenskiy if he would allow Chiselin’ Trump to release transcripts of their phone calls.

What I don’t understand is why we aren’t being asked to support those H of R members who are waffling due to being in red or purple districts. If called upon, we could provide all kinds of support for them.
