Trump's Venezuela Attack Is a Uniquely Dangerous Threat to the Constitutional Order

When Cynthia Nixon was running for governor, someone asked her about her favorite bagel and topping. She answered a raisin bagel with lox. That was it for her.

They were great with the tunnels, they went with the dams. It sounds like the dam projects started a bit after your 1970 visit, really ramping up after the Revolution.

They just made health insurance unaffordable for about 22 million Americans, grocery prices are up not down, made his big donors and tech titans richer, invaded Venezuela for dubious reasons, deporting long term productive/noncriminal residents (our neighbors), prosecuting anyone he believes wronged him, oh and the Epstein files. But yeah, he cannot figure out why Americans no longer believe in him.

The fact that he’s at all acknowledging it is … progress?

His bagel order might ultimately be what took Andrew Cuomo down in NYC’s mayoral race.

Yeah, the idea that big chunks of the earth move around like that is just absurd on the face of it. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to go watch an earthquake safety training video…

Yep. I dunno how he could say the words “English muffin” in this context. They have their place, but he should’ve lied haha.

I’m curious about the apparent disdain for toasting the bagel that Mamdani refers to though. What’s that about? Is that a thing?

Yeah well for those of us New York State Democrats who wanted a actual, viable alternative to Andrew Cuomo…and we got served up an entitled Manhattan actress, never held any elective or appointed office, who said upon running for the top job in the state, “I’ve been thinking of this for eight years,” never having deigned to run for [insert lip-curling sneer]… City Council. Or State Representative. Nope. Way beneath her. This is what New York “progressives” have degenerated into?

If that means you toast it, I’d have to agree. I have to have them toasted too lol

There are few topics in the bagel world as polarizing as toasting. If you walk into certain old-school shops in New York City and ask for a bagel “toasted,” you might get a dirty look. In other places, it’s the standard default. So, what is the rule? Is it a crime to toast, or is it a preference?

Let’s look at the arguments from both sides of the toaster oven.

The Purist Argument: “Don’t Ruin the Freshness” The anti-toasting brigade operates on a simple principle: A truly fresh bagel doesn’t need help. If a bagel has come out of the oven in the last hour or two, it is in its peak state. The crust is crisp, the inside is warm and moist, and the texture is perfectly chewy.

Toasting a hot, fresh bagel dries it out. It changes the texture from “chewy” to “crunchy.” Purists argue that if you need to toast a bagel to make it taste good, it wasn’t a good bagel to begin with. They believe you should experience the nuance of the dough and the malt without the overwhelming flavor of char…

Great post. You might add the 1500+ pardons so far in T2.0 too.

Short sighted. First of all, we need all the allies we can get in this fight. Second of all, people can and do change. Redemption is a Thing.

Also, the category of “former Republicans” happens to include me, so I have a personal objection.

My favorite bagel order in Philadelphia was plain bagel (not toasted), whitefish, cream cheese, large slice of raw onion.

It’s been a long time since I had one, and the place is long gone. The next time I go to visit my daughter in NYC, I will have her take me to her favorite spot in Brooklyn.

Yeah, I remember thinking at the time - “Huh, wot?”

In her defense, the world’s gotten a whole lot weirder since…

Allies, sure. But not voting them into one of the bluest seats in the country. He can take his centrist vanity a cram it… sideways (electorally speaking)

Sure, but redemtion and election are different animals.

And folks that flirted with being a democrat only because trump, are not yet redemption stories, by any means… especially when done as a media personality.

Happy to have you as an ally. One’s time since being a Repub matters. Conversions pre-Dubya count. After that, i’m sceptical.
