Trump Says He ‘Never Even Thought Of’ Delaying The 2020 Election

Yes.

Yes, Congressional sessions expire (and begin) on January 3 of every odd year.

The question they really should be asking is “do you have the power to delay or cancel the Nov election?”

Sure, but POS’s like Kemp would use federal cover to cancel both Senate elections and appoint Repubs, especially with the wind blowing in the Blue direction.

I think constitutionally the Presidential election will have to happen.

Everything else I don’t trust when it comes to Republican governors. And NY opened the door yesterday.

To get him on the record as saying he (knows he) does?

Was he being sarcastic?

Yes, from moment one, when he took the oath of office.

More importantly to get other people on the record with if they’re ok with that.

Senators from Maine, for example!

Biden got him to lie again publicly, on an extremely important topic.

That’s likely Biden’s intention. He’s smart.

the Senate situation is different in that 2/3 of the Senate remains in place - because of staggered 6 year terms.
based on the pure mechanics of just subtracting all senators with expiring terms … majority goes to Dems … Leahy rises to top .

… but this process cold be manipulated if a few “red states” did some sort of " work-around" and “elected” GOP senators…

Fundementally we know he’s crazy pants and unstable. I think it’s real important to find out where the true bottom is with the Republican party. Are they gonna ride this into the ground? Or do they have at long last any sense of decency?

It seems like it’d be a question for the USC, but they’re not sure if they have any power to decide anything of importance.

No election, and the only existing members are Senators not up for reelection this time.

I swear we had one of these. There was still an election.

If that is the pattern, they lose a seat in NC, KY, MT, KS and ME, and thus lose the majority.

There are a lot of things that were required to happen, either by law or Constitution, that this f*cknut president has ignored, with no apparent repercussions thanks to his GOP enablers in Congress and the SCOTUS.

What makes you think he’ll follow the law/Constitution this time, when the alternative is getting voted out of office and facing a potential legal tsunami once he’s unable to hide behind the bogus “the president can’t be investigated while in office” crap?

I’m not an optimist. I’m curious. More important is letting the electorate (for what it’s worth) know at what stage we are at.
