Totally on it!

Yes, but without elections, there wouldn’t be a quorum of House members to elect a new Speaker, or do anything else for that matter.

Yes. It would seem in this unlikely scenario state level rules for senatorial succession would apply. Leaving at least in some cases governors appointing senators.

As the Senate term ends a few weeks before the president’s, governors would have the time.

He’ll wait until much, much closer to the election, and if he’s behind, declare himself “The Chosen One for Life”.

When does Pelosi’s current House term end?

But she will be bringing her best.

If they are out of office they couldn’t.

Its moot, if somehow the election was postponed or delayed, no way we would make it to January as one country.

Couple weeks before the presidency

Absolutely brilliant

Per Wiki

A quorum in the House of Representatives is when a majority of the Members are present. When there are no vacancies in the membership, a quorum is 218. When one or more seats are vacant, because of deaths or resignations, the quorum is reduced accordingly.

The House elects its speaker at the beginning of a new Congress (i.e. biennially, after a general election) or when a speaker dies, resigns or is removed from the position intra-term. Since 1839, the House has elected speakers by roll call vote.

With announced R-Rep resignations Dems will be able to muster a quorum to hold the election for Speaker. By all rights, it looks as if Nancy Pelosi would continue as Speaker until an election.

That’s actually a very fair question.

I have little doubt that Parscale has been doing nothing but blowing smoke up his big orange ass for months, even during this pandemic, about how they are going to win.

I suspect the reality won’t set in for him until probably late summer, when a steady wave of polls show him losing by double digits, and that Parscale (or whoever has replaced him at that point) has written off campaigning in Michigan (because they are at the point now, and actually have been for months).

Once it dawns on him, then he will do everything he can to cancel or disrupt the elections. And there are people around him who already see that coming (because its pretty obvious), and are already looking to take steps…ala no funding for the Postal service.

States can hold elections to elect congresscritters, so the House and Senate don’t have to be impacted at all.

Apparently the Chinese are the new Mexicans…No surprises after listening to Cotton and others, but the strategy for 2020 is blame China for all US problems. Note to all Americans of East Asian ancestry, if you think this has nothing to do with you, think again; after all Sikhs have nothing to do with Muslims. Trump talks of going to Chinatown as a really bad thing, and remember people have been drinking bleach just because he mused about it.

But without elections in November, there would be zero Members present. So no quorum.

I haven’t seen that rule. I was under the impression…and your quote from wiki backs it up…that she is Speaker until this Congress’s term is ended. Which would be in January 2021 I believe.

This is a good move for Biden.

You beat me to the punch.

Also, can the media please not take anything this idiot says at face value. It’s entirely possible that he drops an October surprise and announces that the election will be delayed and when quoted or shown the video of what he said yesterday, he’ll vomit word salad at the press, who will dutifully report it but not challenge it…
