Nope, Taiwan “has the cards” for now. They make 90% of the world’s most advanced semiconductors, like the ones everyone is using on their devices to type here right now.
China is trying to develop their own chip fabs but they’re still years away, and Taiwan will never let China take their fabs intact with an invasion. If that happened, the world economy would crash without those chips, and that hits China too.
I think Taiwan is probably safe with or without a US military umbrella until China catches up with chips, and that may not even be possible as the tech keeps improving.

Pedantically inclined this morning, I asked the google machine about the derivation of the word “Arizona.” Said resource disabused me of what I had been taught in days of yore (not Arid zone) but, rather, either an indiginous native word meaning small spring, or Basque word meaning the good oak. Neither of those are fitting these days nor those to come. A new name for the State would have to carry the sense of hotter than hell, drier than dust, unfit for civil human society, yet a location displaying sunrises and sunsets so glorious that, were human life possible here, people would weep at being gifted with such beauty..
