I agree with you that Putin is behind it all, I’ve been saying so since Brexit and then our 2016 election. But the bigger problem is that Putin just proved that the model works. Now any country with the will power can jump in and do it themselves. (And I’m guessing several have already) So it no longer goes away with Putin. This is going to be a permanent problem.

I’m sorry. I find this whole tale rather unlikely … seems we would have heard this years ago and ad nauseam ever since if it had taken place. If there had been tears in their eyes by the end, I would known it was bullshit.
