I suspect he is running this idea up the flag pole to see how it is received by Republicans and maybe the Joint Chiefs. It is not aimed at Democrats. Clearing out Lafayette Park did not sit well with the American public nor did the short occupation of Portland by federal goons. He’d be rid of Esper tomorrow if he thought it politically beneficial.

My vision for Trumpmaggedon is not necessarily a militaristic, authoritarian fascist state, but a depleted, sad nation, groaning under incompetence and magical thinking approaches to problems. Given Trumpian and GOP philosophies, the economy cannot be maintained by assuming the Laffer curve. Climate change cannot be put off by any mitigation they are willing to enable. People’s health cannot be maintained by a turn of the century healthcare system which is not bolstered by a social safetynet. I can go on. In my view we’ll be faced with an impoverished nation run by oligarchs with massive immiseration and a depressed populace.

It is dangerous today. We keep moving our own goal posts as the situation devolves due to lawlessness. Gone are the days of going “But he can’t go there”. He can and will. He is doing it right now.
We are holding to the idea that things can be healed with the election. What happens if he does steal it?
Where do you go next, what position does that goal post end up in? I can’t wallow in the idea of it is all over, there is just a next. And you make decisions from there. Otherwise we just curl up in a ball and let it take us. I refuse to do that anymore, as I said, I am beyond that apprehension. If he wins, the situation morphs, it will be different and maybe far worse. Expect that instead of simply believing it is the end and maybe we can find some traction to approach the next scenario.
