Trump Has Said Privately He May Replace Esper After Election | Talking Points Memo

Wait, they’re talking about maybe replacing hims sometime in the not too distant future?

Yeah - he’s gone by the end of the month. Shortly after tRump expresses ‘full confidence’ in him.

Putin wills it so.

Why doesn’t Esper resign now?

The USPS man needs talking to.

Presently, he seems to be the current “Bill Barr” type of flunky.

  • Barr gets rid of Mueller

  • USPS man gets rid of VBM (and its effectiveness in StopCheat)

OT Lawrence O’Donnell prefaced the statement that Biden would win in November with two disclaimers (a) stopping the Russia cheat and (b) stopping the USPS stooge…now we have another potential stooge: a military one (before or after the election)

Because he’ll be replaced by some “acting” friend of Jared’s, who will proceed to do maximal damage with an extra couple of months to play with.

Biden’s first decision may be imposing a travel ban on the Trump family. So they are at hand when this country demands restitution.

“Go ahead and dance now”, Trump thought to himself.

He’s hoping to lock in the “Cabinet Shuffle NOW!” voting bloc.

At some point he’ll be lashing out at everyone. That famous scene from “Downfall” comes to mind.

Except Trump is almost too lazy to steal anything. If he loses, he’ll spend 90% of his time golfing and toilet-tweeting about how he’s a victim. Republicans in the executive will start abandoning ship to line up post-admin jobs and the media will begin ignoring Trump (to what degree they are capable which isn’t much) and focusing on Biden/Harris’ administration.

Everyone seems to think Trump is going to stage some sort of rascal scooter rebellion and take over the country, he’s had that power for 3.5 years, he’s too lazy to do it now.

This is what he does all day. In the middle of an economic and public health crisis.

If he departs after the election in November, Esper will have been in the role for less than a year and a half.

That would be almost 50 Scaramuccis. No way he lasts that long.

He’s really going to need a security clearance at some point. Isn’t he?

Nah, things just change. Not pleasant, but the shape and manner of things will morph. Personally I am past the apprehension of what comes next in that situation. It is not the final play in this country.

There is none that ever had the reasons this president does to win and at all costs. What awaits Trump in a loss is something that haunts his dreams at night. As well as those of his cronies and complicit family members. There is no way he is walking away clean. (Particularly with Kamala on the ballot)

OT. At some point there will very likely be a major public denouncement of Fauci by Trump. Likely over vaccine testing.

Kind of endearing to think of Trump making ‘plans’ for after the election. Sort of like the cptain of the Titanic telling his 1st mate, ‘We’re going to rearrange those deck chairs once and for all as soon as we get past this white thing up here.’

If that happens, it will be the last election in this country, absent a Civil War.

The Institutions have held, but barely. Given another four years, he will have destroyed all of them.

A bit too sanguine I think. Four more years of this bullshit will be dangerous for our society, and world stability. “Things will morph” can mean a lot of things, a great many of them bad. If he is reelected the one saving grace would be a Democratic Senate. Of course he’ll just eventually reach 6-7 die hard wingnuts on SCOTUS and rule by executive decree before his term is over.
