President Donald Trump has privately said he intends to replace Secretary of Defense Mark Esper after the November election, people familiar with internal discussions told Bloomberg News.
Not really. This is quite disturbing on a lot of levels. One thing if Trump wins (then we’re all fucked), but if he’s doing this anticipating a loss, he’s dropping in some clown friend of Jared’s to do maximal damage before turning the keys over.
Or he’s anticipating trying to use the military to stay in power, something which Esper has clearly held the line on.
“The means of defence against foreign danger have been always the instruments of tyranny at home. Among the Romans it was a standing maxim to excite a war, whenever a revolt was apprehended. Throughout all Europe, the armies kept up under the pretext of defending, have enslaved the people.”
― James Madison, Notes of Debates in the Federal Convention of 1787 Reported by James Madison
Think of Trump as one of those deadbeat renters that trash the place up when evicted, stealing everything that they can carry and destroying what they cant.
I know somebody who worked with Esper at Raytheon, and he assures me that Esper will do the right thing when/if squeezed by †Я☭mp®. (That’s some vague, weak tea, of course, yet Esper is most likely to want to stay within good graces of the socialized comforts of the Mil/Ind Complex and can’t be seen as too Trumpian crazy.)
