Trump Got Tired Of Waiting On GOP Lawmakers To Decide Whether To Relinquish Their Authority

We need a functioning Congress. Until we get one, the damage will continue.[/quote]

Today on CNN
Bacon - an occasional foe of the president - urged him to back off.

“Article 1, Section 8 [of the Constitution] gives Congress the authority over tariffs and taxes,” he began. “It’s pretty clear in the Constitution.”

“But what Congress has done way before my time … is that we gave emergency authorities to the president… It was not intended to do tariffs against 80 countries and a wholesale policy change which is what I see today.”

“So I share the views of Senator [Chuck] Grassley also [Kentucky Republican] Rand Paul and other Republicans in the Senate that it’s gone too far and Congress should restore this. authority back to where it belongs ––– and that’s with us,” he added.

When you look back since 2016 the actual number of elected Rs who have ever pushed back you could count on both hands. Rare, rare moments when McCain, Murkowski, Romney etc. broke ranks enough to actually make a difference…and their heroism? Rose only to the level of bare-minimum decency.

Here we see Bacon squeaking out the bare-minimum…Hey! Only we can impose tariffs!

And it seems like brazen defiance. He appeals to a few ‘reasonable’ Rs but it fails to register on the public there are almost 50 Dems ready to ‘do the right thing’…and he can barely scrape up the names of 2 Rs who might conceivably act like a human being.

“Terry. Terry. Did you see the picture?"
“Why don’t you just say ‘Yes, he does’ [have a MS-13 gang tattoo] and, you know, go on to something else,” Trump said.

I gotta walk and then run some errands, but first,

And, bear in mind, there aren’t enough legs on that lobster (crayfish?) fascinator.

Because a college education might provide a student with the tools of reasoning. The ability to reason or think for oneself is toxic to the MAGA frame of mind. That’s why they want to crush all public education- can’t have the masses thinking for themselves.

Downsizing (and moving cross country) is the hardest thing my wife and I have ever done. At least it feels like that as we pack, donate, and throw out tons of crap we’ve collected over the years while preparing to move.

We waited too long, while living in a big two story Victorian house for 25 years. It made sense when my Mother in law lived with us and we had kids visiting all the time. It was great for hosting house concerts. But we’re now in our early 70’s, should have bailed out years ago but Covid put the brakes on for a while.

I knew that Trump had reverse coattails, but I didn’t expect it to extend to other countries. First, the Libs in Canada and now Labor in Australia. I’d be worried if I was a rightwing party right now.

Thankfully, the cons are as dumb as we expected.

At first glance I thought it was an iguana on her head. Which would make sense in South Florida, especially after a cold snap when they drop out of the trees.

The Vatican has much to offer in service of his brand. The gaudy wardrobe. The gaudy glitzy gold decor puts Mar a Lago and Trump Tower to shame. The Vatican Bank. All that prime real estate. An endless library of books to burn. A worshipful cult following.

That’s OK, Tariffs are TMF’s downfall, even though he doesn’t know it. This summer when we are deep in a recession, store shelves are bare, and what is for sale is way more expensive than it should be, Congressional fascists will be looking for any distance they can get from the carnage.

Unfortunately, some milquetoast Democrats like Schumer and Jeffries will probably be there to help give them cover.

Where should I turn myself in? I’m quite sure that I won’t be buying anything that’s offered on the proscribed list. Res ipsa loquitor. Guilty!
Just give me a sec to find my toothbrush…
