I’m all for transparency when it makes sense, but this could be the result of a DOJ policy of not releasing information about investigations that don’t pan out, so that targets who turn out to be either innocent or “not sufficient evidence” are not unjustly slandered by association with the investigation.
It’s not so much hiding the information as trying to protect innocent people. Comey’s statement about HRC’s email server right before the election is an example of what happens when that policy is ignored.
Right before early voting starts, I hope Joe gives what he describes as his farewell address. In addition to reviewing how life improved under his watch in America, and his foreign policy successes, he should present a state of the world report and call for action that goes something like this:
The combined GDP of the US and its major allies, the EU and Canada, i.e. NATO, Japan and South Korea is about $54 trillion. That of China, North Korea and Russia - $21 trillion. The disparity in military capacities is similar. The gaps in household income are even more dramatic.
Our citizens and our allies’ citizens live in freedom and under the rule of law. Theirs’ live under brutal dictatorships.
Our society and our allies’ societies all have problems but we’re working to solve them democratically. But whatever our problems, I doubt any clear eyed American would trade life here for one in Russia or China. I doubt any American would rather be allied with Russia and China instead of our fellow democracies.
But that is exactly the choice Americans face in a few days. Kamala Harris will continue our policies that are improving our lives, and restoring our freedoms and rule of law in full. She will stay committed to and strengthen our alliances and continue to lead the Free World.
Her opponent has repeatedly said he wants to withdraw from our most important alliance. He has repeatedly said he admires Putin, Xi, and Kim Jong Un. And he is incapable of telling the truth about anything.
There are many important issues in this election: reproductive freedom; voting rights; gun violence; climate change; fair taxation; and an overreaching Supreme Court approving anti-democratic unchecked immunities.
But sadly, there’s a more important issue we face. Because the Republican Party has surrendered completely to Donald Trump it is still the same issue that made me run in 2020. That is whether the people of the country will continue to entrust their government to a candidate and party committed to truth, democracy, freedom, prosperity for all, not just the few, and world leadership in alliance with the world’s democracies and free societies. Or will they surrender it to a broken party wedded to the lies and unencumbered power of an adjudged rapist, convicted felon and fraud who wants to be a dictator: who provoked an insurrection when he lost in 2020 and promises another when he loses this year.
I’m sorry to have to be so blunt, but the American people must have clearly before them the truth of what is actually at stake when they begin casting their votes in a few days. I urge all Americans who revere our nation and democratic values to vote for Kamala Harris and all the Democratic candidates for Congress and all State and local offices. Our future depends on this. My fellow Americans, your duty is small and easy but it could not be more important. You must rise to this historic moment. You must vote.

The thing about this is that it doesn’t really matter anymore. The MSM can’t set the agenda for the next 90 days because TikTok has beat them to it. There’s no jawboning a bunch of 20 yr olds and the GOP isn’t nimble enough to not step on their own feet when they have to play rapid response everyday. Josh is right, a 3 month campaign doesn’t play to the right wing strength of slowing grinding the gears of disinformation over a period of years

I hope Harris continues to use the jab “Say it to my face, Donald” in her rallies, calling out his cowardice in refusing to debate. I think that’s effective and it has to be getting under his skin.
