At today’s White House announcement, a reporter noted that former president Trump “has said repeatedly that he could have gotten the hostages out without giving anything in exchange,” and asked President Biden: “What do you say to that?”

Orange one would have just handed Putin Ukraine and left NATO in the breach, bragging on how it was a cost-savings measure. Plus he’d get a tidy sum for himself from some third-party intermediary. And the Kremlin would send bags of bones back on economy flights.
