Older people slow down. I’m sorry if reality offends you, but the mental acuity of a 75 year old is inevitably lower than that of the same person at 55 years old, and they are also much more at risk of chronic health conditions. I’d rather have focused, smart and healthy people running the country. Instead, we get GQP morons and a bunch of Dem geriatrics. They might be “good for their age” geriatrics, but it’s still a geriatric ward.
How many examples of people clinging on past their sell by date do you want? Grassley, Feinstein, McConnell, TCF, Biden, etc etc etc
It’s fine if you want them only as a figurehead or some sort of totem, but they are well past the point where age and experience make up for mental and physical decline.

Warren Buffett is 94 years old. I guess he should’ve been forced into retirement 30 years ago, his cognitive decline has tanked shareholder value and it’s just been losses the whole way these last three decades.
Your examples of age limits are for physical things, where a pilot or military member may no longer be able to physically keep up with the kids.
For things like running the country, we want age and experience and the wisdom which comes along with that.
Sure, some people do overstay beyond where they should, but drawing some line just doesn’t mean anything other than ageism. Some people are sharp as a tack at 100, others dumber than a box of rocks at 20.
