wow, speaking of ‘nasty’…
" Trump-Appointed Judge Demands Campaign Produce Evidence Of Voter Fraud"
What it must feel like for Trump and company
I’ve used an ‘unconstitutional’ drop box for years.
Another of his judges turns on him.
(laugh, laugh, laugh laugh)
I know that’s it is only a token, but tokens matter. Give Trump an undeniable place in the record books: 1st POTUS impeached in first term…TWICE
Mail boxes are being taken away from their communities and being put into cages?
Very entertaining! thanks for that.
Idaho also adopted the optical ballot scan. Still no “receipt” showing the scan results though, which we still want in order to confirm and assure accuracy. We’re still pushing for that important “feature” to be added…
See, I put my ballot into the scanner, and it says, “hey presto!” but it doesn’t confirm that my vote got tallied correctly. A receipt would allow me to check and make any corrections on the spot. Like your receipt when checking out at the supermarket. If something is amiss, you can get it fixed then and there. Voting should be no different.
I’m with you. We need to document the GOP tyranny so nobody in the future can ignore what Trump and Putin did to the United States in 2020…before it’s too late to make that point through our republican form of government which is hardly hanging on at this point.
We ordered our absentee ballots here in Boise. Will deliver them to the dropbox.
We need our very own Dunkirk. Every car, truck, bicycle, skate board, anything with wheels, needs to be employed to get these ballots where they need to go. Make no mistake, the Nazis are coming.
Somewhat OT - with the issues related to vote-by-mail, you can reduce the cycle time in Maryland (and perhaps elsewhere) by requesting a vote-by-mail ballot online instead of waiting for the mailed application for voting-by-mail to arrive.
In Maryland, we’re supposed to receive the ballot three weeks prior to the election.
And, once you receive your ballot, check to see where you can drop it off instead of mailing it.
During an appearance on his former campaign adviser David Plouffe’s podcast on Friday, former President Barack Obama explicitly called out his successor for trying to sabotage the U.S. Postal Service ahead of the 2020 election.
“What we’ve seen in a way that is unique to modern political history is a president who is explicit in trying to discourage people from voting,” Obama said. “What we’ve never seen before is a President say, ‘I’m going to try to actively kneecap the postal service to encourage voting and I will be explicit about the reason I’m doing it,” adding, “That’s sort of unheard of.”
Obama taped the podcast interview shortly after President Trump admitted that he was blocking funding to the Post Office in order to prevent universal mail-in voting.
Hi! To find out what I can do, say @discobot display help
.
Why stop at twice? Impeach him weekly if he’s going to keep doing impeachable shite. Or maybe it could be the first impeachment with the articles in the form of an Excel sheet updated hourly?
The Democrats in Texas mailed out millions of applications for mail in ballots and we got ours today and turned it around and mailed it back. Once we get ballots, if it doesn’t have information about turning the ballot back in I want to find out about turning them in in person. I’d rather under the circumstances.
In Texas everyone over 65 is legally entitled to vote by mail. I just don’t know if that means you can return the ballot other than by mailing it.
I’d like to say I hate to be Mr. Law Pedant, but, honestly, I do it so much, I don’t think it would be credible.
But
a) This is not a “demand.” This is an “order.”
b) This is an order granting a motion to compel responses to discovery requests. The judge didn’t just on his own initiative demand that they produce evidence. Instead, the other side asked for documents substantiating their claims, they refused to produce them on grounds of relevance and because reasons, and so they filed a motion to compel.
c) This is not some huge “Trump appointee enters stunning order” thing. This was mostly a basic, boring “no, those documents are clearly relevant so produce them” order.
d) The only thing that’s a bit eye-popping is the part where he entered an order on the 13th requiring them to produce documents and supplement responses by tomorrow. That is incredibly rare. Usually only happens in emergent situations, i.e. “trial starts tomorrow” or if the other side actually represented that it was prepared to produce documents immediately if they lost. The latter situation generally only occurs when you are, e.g. subject to a NDA that requires a court order or you are required to assert a weak privilege claim for malpractice CYA purposes.
If the “produce by tomorrow” thing was an outraged court laying down the law, you would have seen a different result on the fee and cost award request in the final sentence.
ETA: And turns out, the judge has acceded to a Trump Campaign request to expedite the litigation. Hence the short deadline.
You can watch the counter go up one number when you push the ballot into the machine to see if your ballot was counted. It’s not a receipt but at least shows that the machine was still working when you left the polling place. The paper ballots can be easily recounted.
It’s hard to believe that just over three years ago, our republic was still working and safe from foreign intervention. It took just one traitor and a Russian dictator to topple the Republican Party. But it’s going to take a lot more than that for them to destroy this Constitutional republic.
Sherman didn’t take any prisoners and neither should we if Trump tries to stage a military takeover. Gorsuch and Kavanaugh better be really careful what they do, if Trump does a Bush vs. Gore move. They can be impeached, too.
somebody text me when a court order means something again wouldya?
