A Trump-appointed federal judge demanded that the President’s campaign put up or shut up by Friday in regards to evidence that mail-in voting is rife with fraud.
Good for District Judge J. Nicholas Ranjan! Mitch McConnell will be kicking himself for letting this guy through. Looks like a glitch in the (anti)Federalist Society’s vetting process.
Frankly, every media outlet should have been demanding to see the evidence, for any and all of Trump’s ludicrous claims, and failing that, just run articles that refer to Trump’s “continuing gaslighting” and “uncorroborated assertions” and yes, “yet more blatant lies and delusional claims” from “Mr Trump.”
Interesting, but doesn’t preclude him moving goalposts closer to their arguments even if he doesn’t adopt them wholesale.
In the end, SCOTUS partisans will rule that evidence isn’t necessary and that they won’t look into executive branch reasons for any action taken as long as the reasons therefore are rational and essentially have some superficial appearance of making sense.
Plaintiffs will provide supplemental responses and documents consistent with the foregoing no later than August 14, 2020.
…
If there are no responsive documents, Plaintiffs must state as much.
But if they don’t reply that they’ve got bupkis, the court will summarily dismiss.
And if they do admit they’ve got bupkis, the case will be dismissed in the normal course.
“A Trump-appointed federal judge demanded that the President’s campaign put up or shut up by Friday in regards to evidence that mail-in voting is rife with fraud.”
No, “in regard to.” “Regards to” = greetings to, e.g. “Give my regards to Broadway.”
gotta say, these days I just immediately look up who appointed a judge. And when I saw Trump is was like, “huh?” I guess one honest person snuck through.
Alternative explanation is that this judge is so stupid that he thinks Trump has some evidence, and is not just misusing the court. [Or judge is smart enough to realize that Trump is going down, and wants to lay down a marker he is not a political stooge early one, to protect the rest of his carreer - unlike say DC District Court Judge Trevor “fluffing for Trump” McFadden or Judge Naomi “I only do what Fox Talking heads tell me to” Rao.]
If they have no evidence, I hope that the State asks for Rule 11 sanctions against Trump’s campaign.
