Agreed. This is why I’m cautiously optimistic about November. If Biden gets the same level of support he had in 2020, then Trump can’t afford to lose anyone who voted for him in 2020 and has to even increase that number to beat Biden. I’m sure many of the Haley voters in the primary did vote for him in 2020. If they stay home and Biden’s support is the same, then Trump is toast.
What’s unknown is if Biden can pull the same number of votes when polls are saying he’s nowhere near as popular as he was in 2020. I’m still thinking the “vote against” dynamic will apply like it did in 2020, and enough people will be voting not so much for Biden as against Trump to keep him out of office.
Wait for the expected “he’s going to moderate his rhetoric in order to move to the center and appeal to a broader electorate”. “Lay out some policies that appeal to suburban women”. “Challenge his Jewish opponent about Gaza”.
“He can really make inroads into the Black community, those Kayne and Trump voters”.
In a normal environment someone like a Robinson would have been jettisoned by the honchos at the RNC, now since around 2010 he’s been normalized. He’s literally a Black Alex Jones, just running for office.
That was until the SCOTUS gutted the ability of states to keep ineligible candidates off their ballots earlier this week. President (or VP) Musk is no longer an unimaginable option.
Reminds me – Why isn’t Rudy in jail right now? What’s happened with his having to pay $148 million in damages to Ruby Freeman and Wandrea “Shaye” Moss?
Elon Musk net worth is $210 billion. Throwing a few hundred million into the Trump campaign for influence is mere chump change for him, as well as an investment. The dissenting opinions in Citizens United were prescient again.
So back to reality and keeping the government funded. This does not seem like a good strategy or maybe it’s just me.

HFC CHAIR BOB GOOD said in a leadership meeting yesterday that Rs should be willing/able to shutdown the government in Sept. – weeks before the election – so Dems can’t lock in spending levels/priorities
Something I had not thought of before just now, is that in 2020 Biden mostly campaigned from isolation; it was the first year of the pandemic. Even so, Biden was able to pull it together and oust the cheating, sleazy, insurrectionist incumbent.
Back in the day, Trump said the media would miss him when he is gone. I think that is the one truth he might actually be correct on. The media cannot resist the shiny foil ball he represents for them. Easy writing by putting his name into the article, writing empty nothings for the clicks and not doing the hard work of actually reporting.
