Texas Lt. Gov. Urges Old People To Sacrifice Themselves To Save Economy Amid Coronavirus

Texas Lieutenant Gov. Dan Patrick (R-TX) made the astonish argument on Monday night that the elderly ought to be willing to die from COVID-19 for the sake of the economy.

These guys are morphing into a death cult…

I guess they are couting on all the old dead republicans to be voting from beyond the grave this november…

Un-fucking-believable. Coming to you from the same people who said the ACA would have death squads.

I hereby nominate Dan Patrick to show us the way with his own personal sacrifice.

Die for his sins if you want to, but leave us sane people out of it.

Yeah, I’ll bet the faithful, ever-voting seniors that the Goopers rely on to stay in power will love them for this.

On the other hand, he’s just saying directly what Agent Orange is implying with his “return to business as usual” stance. Maybe the old fogies in FL and other Red States will finally get it when it’s spoken this baldly.

I’ll second that gladly!

New GOP platform, same as the old platform: Money > Human life

Let this idiot Texan ride off into the sunset his American flag lapel pin glowing patriotically. Republicans have added another virtue for American citizens to strive for: to die heroically aiding an ailing greenback.

We always knew they put money before humans and dignity!

Dan has apparently forgotten that he will be ‘celebrating’ his 70th birthday in 2 weeks.

You first Patrick. Yeah. That’s what I thought.

Meanwhile, back at the swamp, Moscow McConnel and Trumpski are bringing back old game shows to distract. Mitch likes the obscure but timely Supermarket Sweep while Donnie Do-Wrong is going with the classic You Bet Your Life.

So much for “pro-life”. It’s a rethuglican hoax.

Here is a repost of something I posted earlier updated with better numbers (Numbers are based on March 21)

Here is a fast estimate that is the zeroth order model for figuring out where we are

Current deaths 455 related to number of cases 2 weeks ago, an average mortality ~2.5% means 40 times that many cases 2 weeks ago, i.e. 10,000

Doubling rate is 2-4 days, 2 weeks is ~5 doublings (3 day doubling)

Current estimated cases in US 320,000

Estimated cases in 2 weeks taking into account social distance factor -> 4.5 days or ~3-doublings in all gives 2.6 million cases by ~April 7th…

No social distancing effect means 5-doublings or ~10,200,000 cases…

Now you know why the experts are scared shitlless…

This not meant to be a rigourous estimate, but with exponentials, a factor of 2 is a matter of a few days…

Currently NY and Georgia have 2-day doubling, US is 3-day, California is 4-day

The plan of the fascistgop is to do away with elections, hence the willingness to sacrifice so many of their voters.

Clearly, Dan Patrick is a great American. I assume he is busy making plans for his Coronavirus Colony where he and his like-minded compatriots will confine themselves at the first hint of fever or cough. No testing, they should just assume they are ill with the virus. Save the tests for the sissies who care about health. No need for medical care for them, because these patriots have decided to make the ultimate sacrifice to ensure the financial health of the country they love. Save the ventilators for all the slackers who value life over money. The newer, less sick arrivals at the colony can take responsibility for burying the dead. For me, if the confinement and death of those who share Patrick’s lack of humanity is the only price we have to pay to put our retirement savings back on track, I am all for it. I would even be willing to contribute funds to the tombstones.
