One commentator referred to the overturning of Chevron as the Attorney Full Employment Act of 2024.
Had a cat pic for @davidn but my phone misfired and scrambled the image. Bugs still infect TPM’s system.
There’s also a second Biden/Trump ‘debate’ is September 10th.
Watching the Tour de France as I always do and remembering my just for fun cycling years.
More trump lies by the truckload i bet
I don’t think there’s any doubt. In fact, dare I say, they’re going to need a bigger truck.
This:

I have come to the sad conclusion that his advisors suck. Biden needs some fresh eyes and ideas. Did the prep team film his answers? Then did they even look at it? Did no one notice his droopy thinking-of-an-answer face? Did they notice that he was tired/ill? Call me a nit-picker but even his tie was wrong. Could have used a vibrant blue vs pastel which added to his blahness. I don’t think anyone even did a mic/sound check.
As others here have said before, if he had just said that he had a sore throat and was a bit hoarse, that would have mitigated a lot.
The chaos of changing candidates now would just add to the chaos brought by Trump. Joe has been a fine president and if he brings NC Joe to the rest of his speeches and the next debate, we will be ok. I keep remembering when Obama bombed his debate and he was young. Merde happens.

X100,000,000,000 and one more
Allow me to add I’ve had a very strong aversion to pigs since I was a kid. I never eat pork products. It is not religion. Now I’ll hafta dip my phone in bleach
Sometimes being an old fart ain’t easy.
She was better than good when speaking at Senate Hearings. She was the one they all depended on to cut through the garbage.
I was thinking the same thing while pulling myself out of bed this morning and going over the what-hurts-today checklist.
I think that, somehow, dumpy’s camp managed to slip Rohypnol or some other tasteless sleep med into Biden’s water, or something else like that. It wouldn’t be that difficult if you have some money. He was fine when it wore off. That just wasn’t Joe at the start of the debate and we know dumpy was thinking a lot about drugs before the debate, like he knew something was going to happen.
I agree his advisers and debate prep team let him down. The worst of it was a decision to focus on trying to memorize a set of facts and figures about his accomplishments and try to recall it without notes, but that may have been Biden’s idea as well.
One area where I think the advisors are definitely to blame, is any thought to how Biden might react while Trump was speaking, as if they didn’t realize there would be a full size 50/50 split screen. Much of the time while Trump was speaking, Biden just stared at him like a zombie with his mouth hanging open. It looked awful, like he was suffering a transient ischemic attack or something.
They had better clean that up for the next debate. Tell Biden to stare down at the podium, shake his head, smile, anything but the zombie response.
There were plenty of people here that night who acted like it was a complete disaster. First impressions, I guess…
I wonder how much sleep Biden had gotten or how long his day had already been? He seemed refreshed the next day, and back to the Joe we expected.
Of course, Trump was unusually alert and coherent too. We do ourselves a disservice by regarding EITHER of them as senile. I don’t think either of them are. Trump is “demented” in a different way. By his egomania, grievance, desire for revenge, and criminality. @tpr
What a steaming pantload.
Yes I remember those hearings! She was great. It was the main reason Harris was my initial choice in the Dem primary until she dropped out. If that version of Harris shows up at the VP debate, she’ll wipe the floor with whoever Trump’s choice is.
Classic bias.
It is one of many reasons why Trump is one of the biggest threats facing the world right now. He will scuttle any gains the US has made on the environment, and that has a large effect on the rest of the world. HE MUST BE STOPPED.
