Perhaps the Fox News bubble has been broken for some of them.
It makes it so much harder to come up with bullshit excuses for how he did nothing wrong and how this isn’t Impeachable and it’s all because Dems are meanies!
Note of pedantry here. In the trial it’s not the VP that breaks ties, it’s the Chief Justice. (Based on the fact that originally the VP was from the opposition party).
Having said that, no way will Roberts take it upon himself to cast a decider. He’ll just abstain, in which case there is no majority and the motion is defeated.
Cowards all.
Bolton is one of them. The IC has been thoroughly discredited by his Orangeness, so they can be dismissed.
But Bolton is one of them.
He does, it’s called his book draft which is now in the hands of dozens of people.
straw man BS. Having zero hope of 49 of 53 doing anything positive is not the same thing as not holding them accountable.
Is Bolton’s head gonna be on a pike? That’s gonna be one ugly sight—especially with that mustache.
CJ Potted Plant take a position? Nah.
That won’t be enough. These folks are pretty brazen and where they aren’t brazen, they’re pretty stupid.
Everyone is talking about how this is a bombshell. How is that possible? There’s so much evidence of the aid being withheld it could only come from Trump. I’m not getting what the whole revelation is.
Because it came from Bolton. As I said above, every witness called in the House trial has been discredited by the administration, whether legitimately or not. Bolton can’t be as easily discredited by the administration. It’s a big deal, that way.
Pence doesn’t get to vote in an impeachment trial. Chief Justice Roberts would rule on the question in the event of a tie vote of the senators.
It is one thing when an elected and respected Democrat says Benadick Donnie two scoops lied, abused his office, and obstructed Congress in a most cowardly fashion.
Clearly, it is another thing when a Fox News celebrity and HERO of Republicans everywhere, someone always up for just doing the crazy, says Donnie’s got a problem.
I would not be surprised that Bolton is just aching to get his 2 minutes of TV famedom here, to be the HERO for everyone, so he has one more shot at invading Iran.
As @josh_m has written a couple of times, Dems are doing a terrible job of converting reality into action steps. How the hell is every single R senator up for election (Gardner, McSally, Collins, Perdue, Ernst, Tillis) not have a constant shadow of press talent badgering them at every turn with questions of what are they going to do about this obviously actionable turn of events?
Shaken? I will believe that BS when we have a conviction, not witnesses.
fitting that they’d drink white russians
I think it’s more about the timing and what’s going to be the next bit to drop. The Republicans were hoping to run out the clock before all this became public
3 words: FRUK UM ALL.
All Bolton cares about is the eventual release of the book. What’s to say he isn’t pressured into issuing a press release disavowing the content or context of what is allegedly contained within the galleys? Then later, when it’s published, it in fact does say what this new revelation claims. Confronted at that point he just says “So sue me. Eff you.”
Which means the vote to acquit happens in 10 minutes. Cats are already out of the bag. Evidence was overwhelming. Somehow Bolton’s “revelation” is going to change the calculus? I think not. Remember, MM’s hypocrisy knows no bounds.
