That role in the world economy gives us huge power and security.

The dollar does not have to be the world’s reserve currency, and if we can’t have a stable government, and uncorrupted elections it won’t be.

One of the Talking Heads on CNN called Fox News “The Bullshit Factory”. Those words on air without the usual bleep made me look up from what I was reading. The third time those words were uttered in this piece got me to cheering. It was Jim Acosta I think

I was in Germany when Obama was welcomed in 2007 like a hero. Many of us were concerned back in the Dubya days about losing our position on the world stage. We turned that right around by coming back to normal.

Same thing here.

Other countries and the people in them are quite understanding that we have an undemocratic system which allows the loser of the actual vote to win office, and that, occasionally (but way too often now), we’ll get an idiot in charge, but we’ll end up coming home a few years later.

Our instability is a strength, in large part due to the term limits that most other countries don’t have, so they know that it’s always a maximum of 8 years before a reset, nobody is stealing a life term.

Someone is looking to make a legal perspective, whether one exists or not.

If there is no legal perspective, then why is the legal system involved? The election is settled. Why is the legal system taking a position that would question that?

Did you read the article you linked? Because AZ democrats filed suit over the handling of the ballots and voters’ privacy. Doesn’t give this private examination of the ballots any legal standing with regard to the 2020 elections.

There is no doubt the fraudulent Arizona “recount” will declare the loser Trump the victor. It’s a clear sham, but my fear isn’t it will change the election. Rather, it sets the stage for more right wing violence and another attempted coup d’etat.

It’s this, exactly. After the Q-berts and Trumpists saw what they could do on 1/6, they believe that if only they get enough of ‘their side’ to rise up with them, they’ll be able to overthrow what they see to be an illegal government and be able to install Trump as the first American dictator.

I agree with you that these antics are going to end up getting people killed. Quite possibly, a lot of elected officials

They’re claiming they’re doing this to increase confidence in the electoral process, but what they’re really purposely trying to do is sow doubt. So the Cyber Monkeys will rule for Trump, then they’ll pack up and head for Georgia or wherever, leaving chaos in their wake. This counts as a win to Trump.

And yet all these states, AZ included, are changing how voting happens in their states. Changing without any proof that something, anything went wrong or was subverted.

they are doing everything in their still-considerable power to brainwash them into believing that all-out violence will be necessary and justified in pursuit of that end.

That will not happen. The powers that be might hope that is what will happen but it will not. Yes, they are crazy as loons but they have seen what happened to those who stormed the capitol and they are not going to put their own necks in the noose.

I don’t think they’re forgetting. They are presuming T**** will just walk in the door and take over, regardless of any nonsense coming from the Constitution about succession - it would be an overthrow of what they presume to be an illegitimate presidency.
