Kinzinger Says Some GOPers Are Trying To Score ‘Political Points’ With Milley Uproar | Talking Points Memo

Yes, so it was Esper, not Miller that millet discussed this with. Who named Miller the other day?

Bob Dole used to occasionally let rip a one-liner worthy of a TPM comment board.

Was Kobach also ordered to take a remedial finance course?

I’m not sure why you have such a hard-on for Iran. Are you still mad that they took their country back after we overthrew their elected democracy?

Rumor has it Kinzinger’s IL district is ripe for dismembering in the redistricting. Guess he’s looking to make new friends.

Not to mention the fact that the chain of command is emphatically stating that Milley never inserted himself into the chain of command.

Woodward got what he wanted, which was more attention for his book and proof that his willingness to credulously report whatever anonymous sources tell him while omitting anything that might ruin the controversy it could create, to the point of studiously avoiding any attempt to even research such facts, gives him a form of power.

Their government is a problem that we’ll have to deal with one of these days. Just a question of when and how bad it’ll be when we finally do.

But… bipartisanship!

And among the regional players that makes them different from Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Israel, how? You don’t kneejerk about nuking those countries.

Exactly. Gen. Milley should have begun the processes that are outlined in the 25th Amendment. Then he should have waited while the LEGAL process either worked its way through the system, with its polling of each and every Cabinet member (and the Supreme Court ruling, one by one, if “unconfirmed” Cabinet heads were even eligible to participate) and also VP Mike Pence.

If the eligible Cabinet heads and Pence decided the President was unable to carry out his duties – would that have even included control of the nukes?? again, bring in the Supremes – they would then be permitted to notify the Speaker and Mitch McConnell. If they got that far, that’s where it would die.

As might tens of millions of Chinese and Americans. But we must follow the rules! ALL of the rules!

As I understand it, Milley also discussed his actions with the Acting Sec of Defense. But let’s not give him any credit for that.

That is one of the key points that separates today’s RW faux-republicans from the old school republicans (e.g., those who believe the party and ideology are secondary to the Constitution). It isn’t clear what holds these folk’s loyalty these days, beyond pure devotion to power and money.

Only diff between tfg and the leader of RNK is that Un’s emotional development appears to have progressed past 5 year old. Oh and the top of the heads (if you can call those that.)

I hope she enjoys her work…no…not any “gotcha” business, nor any self-righteous stuff…but the idea of being a highly competent part of a damn good team.

Not for nothing, but if fat donnie sez he had no plan to attack China, then Milley could not have done what he is accused of, so what is he whining about?

Yup. Rules and norms apply only when there’s an agreement by all sides that there are rules and norms. That ship sailed over the edge of the earth a while ago.

In grade school there was a mouthy bully girl who liked to harass people. One day we were playing some game involving a ball and she tripped a kid. We objected, to which she replied “We should get rid of rules! I vote for there being no rules.” So we said OK, and another kid promptly put the ball in play and punched her in the mouth. The GOP wants there to be one-way rules. A lot more punching in the mouth needs to happen.

Probably not.

I think that, at this point, the courts have all figured out that there is no hope for him.

yeah, remember how everyone told us not to freak out about T***p because the adults in the room would temper him and keep him from doing anything really bad? Well, here’s finally one example of someone being the adult in the room and instead everyone’s freaking out about that.
