Kamala Harris Reportedly Picks Tim Walz As Her Running Mate

I think that’s the point of Pitchbot – to not make sense.

Forgive me for strolling down memory lane:

“Today the Republican Party gave up on Richard Nixon.”

-Roger Mudd, leading the CBS evening news, 50 years ago tonight, August 6, 1974.

So I could not make the Grateful Dead Roosevelt Stadium Jersey City rain date of that night - the scheduled August 2 was rained out. The Wall of Sound was not waterproof. But at least I got to see Roger Mudd utter those words. Nixon resigned two nights later.

I have no idea if Harris can use the VP to actually nail down states. Most of the time the VP is an afterthought. I don’t recall Tim Kaine bringing anything to the table although he was a perfectly normal and decent man.

If Walz is going to be some great benefit, they will have to use him in unique ways that haven’t been employed before. Perhaps political historians here can point me to dynamic VP campaigners from the past who made a big difference in the vote tally? I certainly agree that Walz should be a great choice that has potential to play well in NE, IA, WI, MI. Probably won’t hurt us anywhere unless PA is unwinnable without Shapiro.

Based on recent history, I don’t know how PA slid into the Chump column. Just my general impression, but I wasn’t aware of seismic changes in PA that would reverse it’s slightly blue footprint. Without Shapiro, let’s hope Harris/Walz can really juice the young and female vote in PA to compensate for not choosing Shapiro.

As I have stated many times, going after Chump and finding some magic ‘humiliation’ and ‘mockery’ button that destroys him is not a plan. We need to attack every R as a Chump enabler and go after every race…not hope that beating the top of the ticket is enough and the rest will somehow just work out for us. Should be a rule, you do not attack Tar Baby Chump directly, you must use another R as your target and attack Chump by proxy.

I would like to see Walz attack Republicanism and MAGAts. If he is going to be a unique asset, and used uniquely in this campaign…just being a foil of JD Vance isn’t going to move the needle much. Nobody in the country, including their own voters, think Chump and Vance are stellar people. So let’s not waste another election punching ourselves out on those two lost causes. You don’t have to go “high” - I think righteous brutality is in order; but going after the head doesn’t work. Time to work the body. All the other R races, the entire R party and MAGAtdom need to be on the ballot and the Chump problem will be dealt with by sidelining him. Counting on Harris v Chump and Walz v Vance debates to be the inflection points that get us to the promised land is misguided. I like the comments above that hint we have such a deep D field, I would really like to see the D effort spread out and attack Rs everywhere instead of spending all our efforts, once again, trying to convince everyone what a horrible person Chump is.

Yes, he’s not an Ivy Leaguer, not a slick talking lawyer, but a school teacher and coach, National Guardsman.

No coastal elite, he.

Or, conversely, make more sense than the actual New York Times.

The problem is that PA is the key to the entire election. With PA off the table, Harris has multiple paths and a lot more money as PA is by far the most expensive media market of the swing states. Without PA (which most poll show as a tossup), she needs both NV and GA. With PA, she doesn’t need either.

In the no PA scenario, NV is really problematic. Even though it is pandering, Trump’s no tax on tips will play very well with core Democratic voters in Clark County.

Kelly is a good man, but I think the time was a bit too early for him.

And we do need him in AZ!

Also, if you can get turn out percentages closer to 2008/20012 in Philadelphia and collar counties and Allegheny and those collar counties and hang on to some of the rural vote Shapiro got PA should be well within reach. By no means should PA be taken for granted but the voter muscle memory is here for a dem victory in 2024.

Minnesota also accepted Hmong refugees from Cambodia in the late 1970’s. They have seemed to integrate themselves well into society, well with the exception of one of the officers who sat by when George Floyd was strangled to death.
Also politically they never went into the full bore rabid frothing at the mouth McCarthyite anti communism like some of their brethren did in places like Orange County California.

Where did you get shirt

I’ve seen similar memes but, i don’t get it. Is this related to JD’s Cat Lady comment or did the Republicans go after Cats?
