That is one reason. I think the other is that Donald Trump wants to use the debates as a show of dominance, his go-to political operating method. That was his entire weird thing in the debates with Hillary when he shadowed her.
And Kamala is clearly aware of his tactics. My thinking is she will vet any kind of venue and debate rules carefully. So, I just don’t think any debate will happen.

Word on the street😉 @VP Harris has chosen Minnesota @GovTimWalz as her choice for Vice President. Already the pro-Shapiro freakout has begun. And if you’re listening to the early BS coming from @JDVance this morning–“They will not have picked Shapiro frankly because of antisemitism in their own caucus, in their own party . . . The far left doesn’t like the fact that he is a Jewish American", well that says a lot that you’re listening to JD Vance.
Trust me, Walz will connect with Western Pennsylvania. Remember, Walz was the one who branded Trump and his MAGA Party as “weird” and his populist pitch matches up against the pro-authoritarian populism of MAGA. Game knows game. How the campaign navigates the MAGA rehash of the riots in Minnesota following the murder of George Floyd will be an early test, but hey, I’m sure Kamala thought about that in making him her choice.

I am happy about Walz, too. But the state motto of Minnesota is “L’etoile du Nord” (“Star of the North”) – “Forward” is Wisconsin’s… 
He is calm and progressive. He also refers to himself as a “Minnesota Lutheran.” He is the most sensible and liberal of Lutherans – ELCA. I think of it as being like Unitarian. Even though it stands for Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. It’s not at all Evangelical or Holy Roller.
He’s all passion for people and pragmatism. Not a bit of drama in him. He’ll be fine!

“Embracing policies that allow convicted felons to vote” I think the state of Florida has already allowed that for a certain felon who was convicted of 34 felonies and resides in Mar a Lago.
