Habba is blustering about an appeal of his decision calling it rife with errors. We shall see if this actually happens. Sigh.

Me too. I think everybody should get 10 do-overs. More would be nice.

They are in a car right now - on the way to Judge “Can I Help You?” Cannon…

So other than Michael Cohen, who went to jail for other stuff, have any Trump lawyers ever been sanctioned in any way for their outrageous professional conduct? I know they’ve been threatened with various penalties from the bar, various courts, etc. But has anyone actually faced the music? Lin Wood? Rudy Giuliani? I don’t think so. Maybe that’s why they keep doing it.

Unsure what you mean by “legal shut-down” but again, federal judges have lifetime appointments, subject “good behavior” which is a pretty lenient standard. Of course, pace Alcee Hastings, refrain from taking bribes and perjuring yourself. If by “higher ups” you mean the 11th Circuit, they could reverse and remand upon appeal, as we would hope (and it would be interesting to see it in a “per curiam” opinion - i.e., not expressly attributed as authored by one particular judge) but if you’re anticipating a blistering, scathing rebuke, don’t hold your breath, and I would say that even if the reviewing panel were to contain only one Trump appointee or none at all.

In extreme cases, a party aggrieved by e.g., an extreme abuse of discretion can apply to the appellate court having jurisdiction for a writ of mandamus, to the end that the judge in the lower court recuse themself, or that judge be directed to take some specific action, and of course that would be a rebuke, but again, these are rare - the only federal example that comes quickly to mind was when the late Judge David Edelstein of the SDNY went off the rails and refused to dismiss the United States’s antitrust case against IBM even though Reagan’s AAG for Antitrust William Baxter announced he was dropping the case, and even then, the Court of Appeals expressed reluctance etc (which may have in part been a bit perfunctory since, at least as I understand, Judge Edelstein’s relations with the Second Circuit were generally a bit strained). Anyway, that was about 40 years ago (if there are more recent examples, I’m sure others will speak).

Perhaps I was partially asleep before the Reactionary Republicans gained power with Trump’s election, but previously, I don’t remember nearly as many lawsuits being filed contesting the ways and means of the nation’s governance.

You obviously don’t understand. Whining about fictitious wrongs and spouting “poor me” shit is the mark of a tough guy.

Good luck to them. She is up to her neck in alligators on the national security fiasco that she’s caused. Habba & Co. may face sanctions in the dismissed case and the judge in that case already noted Trump tried to have him removed in order to get Cannon on the case. It could be all bluster at this point.

Don’t need to read his mind, just the TPM article. He’s in a sanctioning mood.

“Grievance Manifesto”

That’s maybe why the Republican Party wrote NO platform for the 2020 election–instead they had Trump’s list of grievances.

See also this official Resolution from the party, wherein they explain how the media and the opposing party are unfairly interpreting their not adopting a platform.

She’s completely untouchable. Lifetime appointment, MAGA, she’ll just carry on until she retires or gets appointed to SCROTUS.
