Hmmm. Wonder if we will ever find out? The mind wanders to all sorts of horrible stuff -human trafficking, money laundering (drug cartels), murder, extortion…
Has that feel.
Why was this the straw that seems to have broken the Texas House GOP’s back, after so much scandal from Paxton over the years?
Maybe less a trigger and more a convenient vehicle to move on removing Paxton. Who knows wholly what Paxton has done on the backside over time. The last few days shows he is not shy about abusing his power even when it is applied to his own party members. Intimidation, witness tampering? What we know in the open may be the tip of the ice berg.
Are there such that are “competent fascists” in Texas? Would they just be better skilled at corruption?
Looks to be a Big ice berg
If that or some such turns out to be the case, can a Federal indictment be far behind? Now that Paxton has been underbussed, the next step is for the Feds to scrape him off the road, or perhaps the local scavengers will come out to pick at the carcass.
The whole drama sounds like a treatment for a new Taylor Sheridan epic. Or an episode of Succession. Or any drama that successfully binds power to extreme wealth that is beyond most of our understanding. It does have a Shakespearean quality to it.

The Resignation Game" explores the high-stakes world of politics, where personal ambitions collide with the pursuit of power. Through a gripping narrative filled with twists, betrayals, and moral dilemmas, the series exposes the dark underbelly of political power and showcases how a small group of equally corrupt politicians hold on to power by sacrificing one of their own."
It might just be me, but this whole Paxton impeachment by Texas Republicans sure has the creepy feel of the Donner Party all over it.
THIS! Criminals will commit crimes becoming more greedy and brazen until there are consequences. No accountability means no limits. LOok at TFG for another example of this behavior.i
I would expect Paxton to be found guilty by the Texas legislature and removed from the AG’s office. Does this prevent him from seeking some othrr state office because I bet he could get elected as a state Rep. Or mebbe Dallas city animal control specialist.
Get ready, Donnie, you’re next in the conga line!!
Donald Trump lies all the time about everything to everyone.
abusing his office to benefit himself as well as his close friend and campaign donor, Austin businessman Nate Paul
Money is NOT speech.
2020 presidential election in Texas, donald shows 5.8 million votes for you and 5.2 million for Biden. That ain’t no “landslide” donald.
Don’t forget your ketchup for your omlet donald.
On July 30th the Dodgers will have a Christian Faith and Family Day.
I just think it the TX lege thought that Paxton asking for state monies to pay his settlement was just one step beyond to madness.
Yes, because a drama on Texas mass murders would be HIGHLY inappropriate to the thoughts and prayers of those sensitive GOP souls.
Is this to say Jews and Muslims do not value faith and family? And is baseball only for “Christians”? I’m disappointed in the Dodgers. Baseball to me is a wonderful sport and should be independent of religion or politics
Maybe Trump’s running mate.
There was some clown yesterday driving his brodozer pickup down the highway just whipping the shit out of a flag on a pole in the back of his truck. It is very disrespectful to destroy a flag by subjecting it to 60 MPH winds, or to smear it on some idiot’s face, as seen above.
