In a series of letters, Igor Fruman accused Parnas and his attorney Joe Bondy of giving away information potentially protected by Fruman’s attorney-client privilege to Congress.
Good luck with your request to “take back” the documents. That bullet is already hundreds of years down range and has embedded itself in the target.
Does this mean Fruman was not the source of that leaked videotape of Trump with his donors talking about, among other things, taking out Yovanovitch or is this all just a game?
So IANAL, but Parnas has been doing this negotiation thing with SDNY and the judge for months now, SDNY has seen all that material as well. Wouldn’t any claims of privilege have properly been raised at some point either before SDNY started combing through it, or at the latest when Parnas was asking the judge for permission to turn it over? It’s not as if those proceedings were secret.
I’m guessing that Fruman did not know that Parnas was sharing what he considered his recording. He’s sharing Manafort’s lawyer and they might have told him to get control of it. But we already know they’re not the best lawyers and Fruman might not be all that bright either if he’s trusting them. There is so much underhanded stuff going on I don’t blame Parnas for looking for an off ramp where ever he can find it.
“How dare you Lev! That was mine!”
Don’t get carried away here. Cadwalader is one of the oldest, most prestigious law frims (read expensive) in the country. They are excellent, smart lawyers who know exactly what they are doing. Here, the problem for Igor is that his Cadwalader lawyers understand that they are representing a fall guy who has a bunch of money from which they can separate him while he is doing the falling. Hey, Igor! Some days you eat the bear, some days the bear eats you. Perhaps it does not translate into Russian.
