EXCLUSIVE: Why Washington State Is Desperate For Trump To Declare A COVID-19 Emergency | Talking Points Memo

Citizens, let’s remember the real emergency that 45* declared.

That’ll probably lead to accusations of weaponizing the virus in an effort to make Trump look bad, re-litigate the election, and make up for the failed coup the Dems tried to perpetrate through the phony impeachment which didn’t succeed.

Honestly, I’ve seen all of those accusations just today.

Trying and failing. Have you seen him lately? He looks scared and low, no wind in his sails.

I’m waiting for Trump to “self-quarantine” just so he can lay low and hope it magically blows over.

An elementary school near me closed for two weeks due to a positive test from a student. Now a second child and an administrator have tested positive. And if there are three there are more. And the people they interacted with outside of the school before being diagnosed and quarantined.

That has been their tactic for a while now. If he continues to watch as people die even the republicans will see it for what it is. the fact that so many are dying kills their BS claims anyway.

The guy on the right sells oregano to the freshmen.

Not that I know much about all that.

I disagree for now. I think if things get really bad (hopefully not) that will be a given.

Trump’s also very popular in Vantucky.

We have a school in a neighboring county in WI that closed its doors for the foreseeable, since an infected individual visited two of the schools yesterday.

WI has gone from 1 to 3 cases in the last two days. I’m sure that’s going to continue to climb.

Dear hubby works for the American Red Cross, processing blood donations. He’s mentioned since Sunday how they don’t have a whole lot of work. I don’t think he understands yet that his workload will be severely reduced due to the virus. He’s still discrediting the magnitude. I don’t think he will for long.

Nursing home residents don’t generally travel. So in an epidemic like this they stand out simply because they get sick and die faster and at higher percentages than other population groups.

It’s not just the nursing home. The problem here in WA is that probably a hundred or so people were walking around infected before the first people were identified with the COVID-19 virus, and only because they got seriously ill with it and showed up in the ER. The rest probably thought they had a mild case of the flu. Because there was no early testing! for almost a month. Thanks, Trump.

Now there are probably a thousand or more people walking around with it here in WA, because the number doubles roughly every 6 days with community transmission. And it’s still the situation that only people showing up with serious respiratory illness or close contacts are being tested, due to test kit shortages and an overburdened health care system.

We have had our first employee tested and self quarantined with his family. The executives in my company spent the early afternoon deciding how we are going to deal with the coronavirus. We are lucky Trump isn’t our CEO.

Blood drives have been canceled here due to conferences and shows being canceled. The blood bank sets up a donation station at many of our big doings here. There was a blurb on the evening news that the region’s blood supply is low and a plea for folks to donate.

Ok, that all makes sense now.

I know Chicago - where I’m working - has seen a lot because it’s a major entry point for international travel (O’Hare). But I don’t know where they stand now.

“The problem for the state is that one of the types of waivers currently under discussion — a waiver known as 1135 — can be triggered only by the President declaring an emergency or a disaster under the Stafford Act …”

“First, I’d like you to do me a favor, though.”

Wait, what? Not declared yet? Trump should have declared an emergency for Washington around March 2, when it was clear the virus had been feral in the area for at least 6 weeks and the details of the Life Care Center contagion emerged.
