As Washington state grapples with what may be the country’s worst outbreak of novel coronavirus, the absence of a COVID-19 emergency declaration from President Trump has hamstrung its ability to respond to the crisis.
If Inslee wasn’t such a snake maybe Washington would get help from Trump.
Guess they will have to wait until it hits Kenucky, WV Mississippi or other red states, then state of emergency here we come

While I am absolutely sympathetic to the situation, perhaps a State should also have it’s own emergency plans as prelude or in place of a Federal declaration. Cuz, frankly, you never know what kind of Federal government is going to be in place. Can you say, “Katrina”? :\

If a declaration is needed to combat this outbreak, then that needs to get done.
But what powers will accrue to Trump once it’s done, and how will he abuse them?
Not a new concern. We were aware of it as soon as he was elected. But now we have a shit load more evidence that he’ll abuse any and all power than we did back then.

Exactly right, that’s what’s going on here. Inslee’s action on this emergency and from what I’ve seen from the Washington state Public Health officials on TV, the response has been outstanding.
It has galvanized Washingtonians at large to cooperate with each other and dig in together.
Kudos to Inslee and his team. Setting a good example of how to handle this emergency.

Just FYI, I’m pretty sure Trump relishes hearing that word. Any time someone says his actions are unconscionable he doubles down on them and starts bragging. Expect Washington state to continue eating shit.

Inslee criticized Trump way back when he (Inslee) was kicking the tires on a Presidential run. Trump forgets nothing, nor forgives anything. If you speak up for the people you represent and you somehow cross Trump in the course of doing so you have to resign yourself to the fact all your constituents will be made to suffer for it.
The problem is not the absence of a plan at the state level, it’s having the money to implement the plan.
Sorry people of Washington, but the only person who gets to play politics with human lives is named Donald John Trump.
