After spending a week assuming I picked it up from the Trump Supporter I work for here in Austin, I now have a fever and feel like crap. He said I need to get tested before I come back, but I don’t know why as I’m assuming everyone else there has it already because it’s a small office and nobody wears masks. If they didn’t get it from him, they got it from me yesterday.
This sucks. I’m hoping this is as bad as it gets, but I’m fully prepared to die at home due to my lack of insurance and will haunt this house forever. This is the dumbest life I’ve ever lived.
The media needs to go back to covering the overloaded hospitals in Arizona and interviewing the health care workers and their families. The sad part of this is that the news media has become so hollowed-out that to some extent they have followed Trump’s pivot. Headlines about re-openings often say things like “Baseball making progress…” or “Bars finally open…” adopting the framing that the health of the economy should be our sole concern. Local coverage of the re-opening of businesses has drowned out the coverage of the pain and grief that the pandemic is causing – is it any wonder that so few Americans are bothering to wear masks?

I haven’t talked to her today yet. She was really sick yesterday and managed to get a swab but we won’t know til the results come back and that takes time. They told her there had been a sharp increase in positive tests there - she’s in Hood Co which is next to Tarrant Co.
