It’s a real shame it looks like George Clooney can’t get his film past the lawyers and finish the pedo enabling wrestling coach.

Giuliani Pal Lev Parnas Tells Comer He’s Willing to Testify Biden Corruption Probe Has ‘No Merit’ (msn.com)
Lev Parnas , the former Rudy Giuliani associate who was central to Trump’s scheme to find dirt on the Bidens in Ukraine, sent top House Republicans a letter Tuesday saying he was willing to testify that their probe into corruption allegations regarding President Joe Biden and his family has “no merit.”

Parnas, who was sentenced to 20 months in jail for illegal campaign contributions to Donald Trump , detailed his connection to the former president’s efforts to smear Biden – his then-likely general election opponent.

“Giuliani tasked me with traveling to Ukraine throughout March, April, and May 2019 to interview different people who had promised to give us information and evidence including records of bribes, bank records, and incriminating tapes,” Parnas claims in the letter. “Yet every time I went on these trips and conducted these interviews, I came up with nothing.”

Is it passing strange that the ongoing sexual assault trials of the former President/Candidate are the sideshow these days?

ABC News reports:

A federal judge in New York on Wednesday denied former President Donald Trump’s request for a new trial in the defamation and battery case brought by E Jean Carroll that resulted in a $5 million damage award.

Trump had sought a new trial after a New York jury in May found him liable for sexually assaulting the former Elle magazine columnist in a Bergdorf Goodman dressing room in the 1990s, then defaming her in a 2022 Truth Social post by calling her allegations “a Hoax and a lie.”

Judge Lewis Kaplan denied the request, saying, “The jury in this case did not reach ‘a seriously erroneous result.'”

And Shrub. I am simply astonished by how these politician’s propaganda can so thoroughly infect the electorate and make them vote against their own self interests

At one point before Jan. 6, Sen. Grassley slipped up and allowed that Pence was not expected to be present on Jan. 6 and that he, Grassley, would preside over the certification of the electoral count. So there was a Plan B if Pence refused to throw the election. Apparently Pence had some inkling of this, hence the refusal to get in the car. At least that’s what I remember.

Two of the phrases that epitomized the entire year of 1968 for me:

It’s going to be a long, hot summer,” and “It’s going to get worse before it gets better.

Things have not changed all that much since 1968. Summers are hotter, and things seem to be getting get worse before the better comes, if it ever does… The highest spot for me was seeing Obama get elected, and living through the eight years of his presidency.

In the end, it will be discovered that the descendants of James Buchanan paid Donald Trump to run for President.

Nixon/Kissinger or Reagan/Bush or The Fat Guy/McConnell/Eastman…

Does it matter who was “worst”? They were each uniquely awful and damaging to our country.

I could recount their evils: Nixon/Kissinger with Vietnam and Watergate. Reagan/Bush with Iran and Iran/Contra. The Fat Guy with his nonsense.

The only distinction in my mind is that The Fat Guy is the most recent collection of depravities and his are quite literally right here at home.

I suppose that if a storyteller wants to frame this as a descent of the Republican/Dixiecrat coalition into a depraved authoritarian American fascism then a progression is necessary, placing The Fat Guy at the lowest level. I’m not sure that is the right framing though: maybe the right framing is from the Gospels. These people have been with us always and will continue with us forever. If that is the story, then the lesson is this:

We must seriously punish this slime as a lesson to others who would seek to impose this latest version of might-makes-right government on the rest of us.

I used to refer to it as the “Pence Gambit,” but the insiders observing it in real time referred to it as the “Pence Card.” It’s the scheme to get Mike Pence to declare that the AZ/GA/MI/NV/PA/WI electoral returns were not valid or doubtful or whatever, thereby sending everything back to the state legislatures so Donnie could be made Preznit again. Except Pence didn’t go along, so Donnie had to launch his mob against Congress, probably as an encouragement for Pence to do the coup but also as impotent rage and frustration.

“that Jan. 6 was a discreet event”

Jan. 6 was anything but discreet. I think you mean discrete.
