The former Scott Walker claimed with a straight face that his background as an Eagle Scout rendered him unable to tell a lie.

So there’s a precedent.

Now the question is - will these lies sink him with republican primary voters - or will they not care if their future President has an “honesty” problem?

Are you saying that there isn’t a grain of truth in his biography, that he lies like a mummy in a pyramid?

Not entirely sure what you’re getting at here. Do you feel OK? Is there someone we can call for you?

I dunno, seems like people are overreacting here. If what he’s admitted to is all that’s altered - i.e., that he changed the name and called him a friend instead of a relative, but didn’t make up the story out of whole cloth - then it’s no different from what Obama did in Dreams From My Father, where most of the people had their names changed and some were composites. Granted, that’s openly acknowledged in Obama’s book, but it’s pretty standard practice (also, I’m not sure but it may not have been done in the first edition, before he ran for office).

Especially given all the genuinely crazy shit Carson says, this is pretty minor.

My Webster’s French Dictionary says “banger, firecracker, detonator, torpedo, kick up a stink, derriere and gun.” I’m still working out how one could be hoisted any of these.

And he made up the West Point scholarship so his wife wouldn’t think the dress made her look fat.

Now it seems that he also lied about getting a “scholarship” to West Point (nonexistent), and also a meeting with General Westmoreland, where this was discussed, but the old General wasn’t even in the state at that time.

Once a liar’s web starts to fall apart, it rarely repairs itself. He is even worse that Herman Caine, who went down in flames pretty quickly once his deceits came to the surface.

Apparently the word “hoist” has changed in meaning somewhat since that time. Since now it means “to be lifted from above, as by a crane”, for a long time (before learning the actual meaning of “petard”) I figured it was some kind of medieval jockstrap.

Sure. Glass invented stories, which is not the same thing as using pseudonyms or composite characters. The President did the same thing in Dreams From My Fathers. There is plenty to mock and disparage about Dr. Carson without resorting to this kind of misleading and sensationalist headline. This is like a HuffPo/Politico article. I’m accustomed to higher standards at TPM.

He’s actually that black hustler from the Hood that his supporters like to say is a Taker. He’s taking them for a ride. And he doesn’t even have to grift that hard. He makes it up as he goes along and they go along with it. They are like clay in his hands.
