And apparently you do not know the difference between an application and nomination to West Point or that scholarships are nonexistent there as payment is in the form of 5 years active duty. I say this because you made the
mistake repeatedly.
Then there are your misunderstandings of how our government operates and your awareness of our country’s policies. You yourself two days ago said you were not up to speed on American-Cuban relations when that information has been publicly available for decades and currently our two countries are normalizing relations. You had no idea.
These are the reasons among many others why you do not get my vote. And race does not enter into my calculations.

I think that’s a valid point, and as often happens, the headline seems overblown relative to what Carson admitted in the article.
But that’s only if he changed names and relationships to protect people. Personally, I think he’s full of crap. It sounds a lot like the pattern he followed for the Popeye’s story - he says something that no one can corroborate, he attempts to “clarify” and winds up saying other things that sound conveniently made up and that don’t square with some of the facts, and then blames the media for even asking.
When I first heard his claim of a violent childhood, I wondered if it was embellished to make the redemption that much more powerful, but I could have pretty well forgotten about it if he didn’t insist on punching himself in the face at every turn.

That and combining Social Security and my state pension sealed the deal.
But on occasion I do miss the way I satisfied my curiosity by doing scientific research. I don’t miss teaching however.
I got an explanation from someone else who said this

Well, it means to have your devious plans backfire on yourself. The bomb you plant explodes while you’re standing on it, “hoisting” you into the air.

Glass invented characters, put them in fictitious settings, saying things that were never said. He invented characters and gave them life. Hack Heaven was the one that finally tripped up Glass . Fact checkers kept coming up empty in this story of a 15-year old hacker demanding money from software companies. TNR almost folded, they had to issue a public apology to its readers and it was the end of Glass’s career.
Liars of all stripes work along similar lines IMO since the object is promoting themselves.
