I agree with your sentiments. Although I love the phrase, had their scheme been at least “hare-brained” it would have been clever. A hare with half a brain could outsmart these rubes.
also why have they not already been renditioned to Gitmo or another of the black site the US has used, those folks never received trials/hearings or access to lawyers, etc.

that he “liked” pages for various patriot groups, including the Oath
Keepers, North Carolina Citizen Militia, and the Three Percenters.
Litteral had served in the Marines for 14 years, according to local TV station WSOC.

I hate to be stereotypical, but honestly, don’t these three LOOK like exactly the type of numbnuts who would do something like this. If they were three guys in suits and ties or three guys who had all their teeth, we’d be at least stunned. With this picture, it’s like…yeah, yeah those three totally look like they would do something this stupid.
The Jade Helm 15 plan to take over southern states and implement martial law was called off when the military learned that Walter Litteral was keeping a 45 by his bed.

Let me see if I understand: The government didn’t lay out its case to you personally in its every detail, so there is no evidence? It can’t be a credible story because you are not personally aware of all the details and evidence used to bring charges? You must indeed be someone very special. Are you the arbiter of all evidence of all crime everywhere, or just in the cases involving alleged gun nut traitors?

These people were in NC. The shootings took place in MS. As far as I have heard, they still haven’t arrested anyone for the shootings. Two different groups of crazies (and there are LOTS more).
My guess is they were alerted back in June ,and given that they had a cooperative party acting as informant, they decided to go ahead with a sting operation. Thus it becomes not a case of some bozo mouthing off at the bar, and becomes actual crimes.

Funny, but just also want to take the opportunity to offer up some credit: Andy Griffith was an wonderful progressive and a very public supporter of President Obama. I wish more Southern white progressives would exhibit the righteous leadership that this wonderful man showed.

Yup, lots of churches and lots a guns. Seeing more and more of these types in N.C. Moving to Florida in a few months. Wanted to move back to L.A. but too expensive and afraid you might hunt me down.

Carl Hiassen’s criminals are decidedly funnier, and almost always with a touch of (twisted) humanity. And sadly, only one of this books has been made into a movie, Strip Tease.
But thumbs up on the Hiassen call out! Hiassen and Tim Dorsey are two of my favorite authors.

I guess that’s a better move. I guess you gotta do what you gotta do. L.A. is very expensive. I retired to Ventura Country - much more reasonable - but that will change eventually - there are pockets of rednecks here but nothing like the crazies down there.
