Discussion:

You might have seen part of the interview with Megan in which he said people of NJ didn’t want him to run for president as polls have indicated because they want him to stay there and continue his magic.

Definitely a bridge over troubled waters.

Christie at bat. It’s pure horror.

Two lawyers are talking, one says to the other “You’re lying!” The other one says “Yeah, but hear me out.”

This is a gaggle of GOTP lawyers - Christie on down - mentored by the likes of Rudy Guiliani and the Shrub’s handlers. They are incompetent and thoroughly corrupt go-along-to-get-along members of the Club.

"Gibson Dunn is therefore under a contractual obligation to keep any documents and notes relating to these interviews since they constitute “work product.” "

Who cares? Christie and his cronies control the state. They may very well have said “meh…destroy them all,” to which Mastro said “ok, but sign this release first.” Boom, contractual obligation over.

What I’d be more interested in knowing is whether these records are public, because they were paid for by the public and the state of NJ was ostensibly the client, not Christie, even though this was clearly a self-serving snowjob. Numerous statutes might apply at that point and this might run afoul of any number of them for any number of reasons.

Moreover, if the little exchange I posited above happened, whereby Christie et al. authorized these records to be destroyed, he may have fallen into something analogous to the old politician’s perjury trap (i.e., it’s not the crime they accuse them of that gets them…it’s their lying about it and the perjury charges that follow…just look at Clinton’s impeachment). Destruction of the documents with his knowledge and blessing…even if they tried to paper it over to make it look legit and official…could very easily lead to corruption charges in and of itself, in which case we may watch Governor Soprano take a fucking for this even if he never takes one for Bridgegate.

Ooo Ooo Ooo, will someone with the skills please post this picture next to one of a model in similar pose? Pease, please, please. I want to print it and post it on my fridge. I just know it will help me stay on my diet.

I nearly fell off my chair laughing!

Yes. Yes they do…

Damn you straight to hell for putting this picture up!

And BTW, if these documents were indeed destroyed, then I’ve gotta say that Mastro isn’t even remotely the attorney he and the press have made him out to be. Not only would it be just plain dumb…and I mean dumb on the level of getting shitfaced and deciding to hold your own drunk driving stops on the highway like the kid we read about yesterday…but so unethical that he should lose his license and be disbarred.

Drip, drip, drip…when does the dam break? I want a front-row seat and some popcorn, please. “Oh, what a tangled web we weave/when first we practice to deceive.” Governor Christie? Senator Christie? President Christie? Nope, nope, nope.

First, thank you Brian for a lovely story. It’s such a pleasure to read an article that is well researched, well organized, well sourced, and well written. You have an A+ from me.

The thing that I love about this multi-pronged chipping away of Christie’s empire is that when he goes down, and he will go down (too many will want to save their own butts), he will take a whole bunch of corrupt sleazebags down with him.

I really like Fishman, unlike many prosecutors in his position, he is taking his time and patiently putting all the pieces together instead of going for the publicity and glory. He outwaited folks. He refused to rush into a deal and grant immunity to anyone. Instead he slowly built up a case so that he had bargaining chips going in to negotiate a deal. He demanded a guilty plea before he gave a deal.

I truly believe Fishman is slowly eroding Christie’s foundation and when he’s ready he will give it a nudge and it will topple.

Spend millions of tax payer money on legal fees, and not a peep out of conservatives about wasteful spending. Spend a smaller amount helping poor people and the conservatives scream from the top of their lungs about how their tax dollars are being wasted. I don’t get it.

LOL!!! (no, system, my body is not invalid – now print, damn U!!)

It worked for R-Money.

Hay New Jersey! Here’s an idea. The next time there is an election, elect someone who won’t stick you with $7.75 Million in legal bills that you all have to pay!

Oh, That’s Right. You had that chance, and you mucked it up!

I don’t know which is more tragic, or causes me to laugh more deeply. But–

YOU ELECTED THIS SCHMUCK!!!

Enjoy!

He’ll be “Guv’ner” for the next, oh, 960 days or so!

Whenever I hear Teabaggers claim all the Democrats are interested in is the Politics of Personal Destruction, I just hold up Fatso’s picture. This guy was probably going to be your number one candidate for 2016 but he decided to go a bridge too far along the mean bastard road…heh heh…see what I did there?

Yes, she is so thorough and logical in her explanations. She’s a Rhodes Scholar, like Bill Cliton, E.J. Dionne, and a few hundred others.
