Discussion for article #237129

I have always thought, and will continue to think, this entire case is going to blow up on Christie in a big, ugly way. Perhaps not all at once, but things continue to drip out like a leaky faucet and he has no way to contain it short of “offing” people.

A huge number of people involved in this are lawyers. Many of them active practising lawyers. I have serious doubts they are going to risk their future ability to practice law to protect Christie much longer. There are limits even to solicitor/client privilege, especially when that privilege has been paid for with taxpayer funds.

Bridget Kelly and David Weinstein have no incentive any longer to stay quiet. Neither does Stepien. While I have no respect for Kelly or what she was involved in, her lawyer is no dummy by taking this course of action. He’ll never completely exonerate his client…but he’s going to damn well make sure those who were giving the orders are going down with the ship.

I can’t WAIT for disclosure/discoveries on this one!

Did Gibson Dunn massage evidence to support a pre-determined conclusion that exonerates Christie?

Do the ursine defecate amidst arboreal splendor?

The truth always has a way of coming back to bite you. I think this will be a big, big problem for Christy. Destroying records looks pretty fishy, and if true maybe we will see some jail time for somebody at this law office.

It seems that Christie and his gang of crooks are now hoisted by their own petard.

I suspect Rachel Maddow will be on the story tonight.

So wait, the “Hurricane Sandy, Get Out of Jail Free Card” that enabled a failed governor to win re-election and avoid any accountability for his failed policies, won’t save Christie???

Christie is inspirational testimony to the unflagging Mafia spirit. Here he is in South Carolina campaigning away. And he is so, so screwed. Utterly, unavoudably, absolutely screwed.

Yet, undeterred, he slogs on, sneering at the certainty before him.

Obviously, he still thinks there is a chance to use this politically. Stranger things have happened. Like Rick Perry.

First, i can’t believe this work product did not include interview notes in an Appendix somewhere. I may not know how lawyer-things work, but in the environmental field that is unheard-of.

Second, someone really needs to start reviewing this law firm’s invoices. I have a feeling they have all been approved without reviewing and without question. It looks like lots of folks in this firm may be padding their billable hours with this gravy train client (the NJ taxpayers)

Third, are these lawyers grossly incompetent, or are they lying sleaze-balls, or some combination above? And why does this question so often arise in the context of Republican politicians?

Fourth, i apologize to any real sleaze balls who may have been offended by the comparison to NJ lawyers.

“And if it turns out that Gibson Dunn did indeed destroy documents, Critchley is asking the judge to convene a hearing so he can ask who at the firm did the shredding, when it took place, and who in the Christie administration gave their approval.
My bet is that we’re going to be hearing a lot about the Mastro Report again – a document that was supposed to distance the governor from the trials that will unfold this fall. That distance may soon become uncomfortably small.”

Maybe. Maybe not.
Has anyone discovered whether the presiding judge stayed at Christie's summer house? Belonged to the same yacht club? Has a son and daughter working as legal interns for the Governor's office? There seems to be a dearth of people in NJ legal circles that aren't indebted to Christie for something, somehow, at some time now or in the past. Don't be surprised if the judge makes this all go away.

A suitable low-level staffer perhaps?

Great job again, Brian.

I seriously don’t think Christie is going to end up running for President. This shit keeps piling up. Plus he’s tied with Donald Trump against 17 other Republicans. He can’t believe he has a real shot at it.

Which will make the eventual downfall all the more entertaining.

I’d box the exacta on “outside contractor” AND “consultant”

Indict the fucker already. How big a hole does he have to dig to get indicted?
Hah…It’s gotta be a mighty big hole for Crispy, don’t ya know.

A big law firm does not destroy records unless they want to hide the truth. As Porky Pig says at the end of his cartoons “That’s All Folks”. Bye Bye Porky Pig.

Christie is running as a face saving project. He’s dead meat but if he can resurrect his image and possibly get the public to change its opinion of him just a bit for the better, then he’s gaining some. Plus, NJ is paying for it all.

NO, Republican is getting elected President in 2016 so Christie can say that he lost like the rest of them but he never had a chance, especially a slim chance.

It’s so rare that you see Christie and slim in the same sentence.
