Getting Biden out of the race isn’t going to save Bernie…his tax returns will sink him.
Another form of sexism that adult women can tackle head on - call it out and confront it, 100 bucks says the dude/dudette will back off.
Yup. I’ve always been annoyed at the drive from different areas to support a given candidate based on their physical attributes, rather than on their intellect, vision, and ability to lead.
Maybe. O’Rourke’s tax returns might sink him, too. Clear the decks for Warren! ![]()
I gotta disagree, HRC lost because she didn’t have a penis, full stop. There was nothing she could do because sexism runs deep and through everyone, even other women. And saying someone is too old is ageist and just as offensive as saying someone’s too feminine, etc.
So this is what really drives your concern with inappropriate touching of women’s bodies…
(Not that there is a problem with objections to Biden’s Iraq war vote per se.)
You’re right. he should be dragged out and shot. Actually, all kidding aside, he probably should be dragged out and shot for his real crimes: joining the gang that went after Anita Hill, and for participating in war crimes with Obama, Hillary and others.
I am waiting to find out if Biden has hidden NDAs floating about covering ad hoc moments of hand holding, hugs and hair rumpling. The scandal will be tremendous.
Once again, someone lit a fuse and everyone is racing down to see where it goes instead of putting it out. Trump will win because of this. Whoever his guiding hand is, they understand how to manipulate people into this frenzy.
Include his “tough on crime” advocacy, and screwing the little guy on the bankruptcy bill, and those are reason enough not to support him in the primary.
This stuff about him essentially being obnoxious, or “gross” is a reach.
What’s next? I was on an elevator once with Biden and he farted. That invaded my personal space,
A Balloon Juice post covered the tax issue today.
BS is not a Democrat. I’m voting for a democrat.
I agree with you and @steviedee111 – in the abstract.
I think what some others are saying is that, all else being equal among the candidates, they would rather see a woman being nominated.
One problem is how to tell when all else is equal.
A related question: How do you feel about Affirmative Action?
(A related fact: The largest single beneficiary of Affirmative Action programs has been … women.)
I still haven’t seen his.
As for Sanders, I’ve seen the tax information he released when he was running in 2016. I have not seen anything else, but it’s early days yet.
Totally separate issues. I think Al Franken would have been a great Presidential candidate, and he was the only member of the Senate up for reelection to vote against the Iraq war, but I also think he did the right thing by apologizing and resigning.
I don’t believe anybody should be shot.
I prefer a candidate that is not an aged, white male because we’ve had 44 white, male Presidents. It’s time for a change. People of color and women have historically suffered at the hands of supposedly impartial HR departments. The same can be said for treatment of them by the media. Their qualifications have historically been given short shrift when compared to white men. That’s just a fact. How many times has B.S. been criticized for the way he dresses, his hair style, not smiling enough, smiling too much, the tone of his voice, etc. ad nauseum?
B.S. is not the best qualified candidate. His interview with the NY Daily News before the NY primary revealed him to be incapable of articulating comprehensive understanding of the many oft-shouted applause lines of his stump speeches, and raised questions about his intellectual vigor.
And his complicity in the election of trump should disqualify him. Some may be more forgiving of him for that.
If the ratings you referred to are the ones used by 538, then as far as I can remember there are several points made in that survey: first, it’s not a national one but one that was conducted in each senator’s home state; second, since Vermont is deep blue, the percentage of Republicans is lower and they’re not like Republicans in red states. Therefore it’s no surprise that Sanders’ approval rating is high among Republicans. Not saying that Sanders is unpopular, just want to remind you that the data might not be sufficient to support your point.
Yes, those were not ideas I can support.
As for who does deserve support in the primary season, I do have to compare Biden’s flaws and mistakes – and strengths – against everyone else’s.
Somehow the society at large had no problem with giving support to candidates with specific physical attributes for 43 presidents, and to candidates with a slightly wider selection of specific physical attributes for 45 presidents. Yet when we have several well qualified women running it has become essential to emphasise an ephemeral “vision” over those physical characteristics.
That is because O’Rourke hasn’t released them.
On March 20, while campaigning in New Hampshire, he was asked how many years of tax returns he would release.
“That’s a great question. I haven’t thought about that,” O’Rourke said. “I do plan on releasing our tax returns, and I want to do that as soon as we can. Certainly last year, but we’ll find out what the standard is and release that.”
What is he hiding waiting for?
Careful with the guns and bullets.
Take a step backwards, easy enough. She should have figured out by now that she has to take care of herself - no-one else is going to.
