Discussion: Women In Viral Photo Of Biden: 'Paternalistic Behavior' Another Form Of 'Sexism'

Correction: We’ve had 43 white guys and one black one.

Sigh. Dude made a real and touching gesture of empathy and he is getting draaaaaged for it. As a society we (at least most of us) have begun to wake up to the duality of this kind of gesture and the need to moderate our physical contact and intrusion on personal space. That’s a good thing. But for that to happen we also need to acknowledge that Biden shouldn’t face negative consequences for acting in a way that wasn’t even clearly inappropriate to her in the moment.

There HAS to be space for people of good faith to listen and learn with empathy to these stories. If it is just about chastising, lecturing and imposing consequences then what’s the point?

Republicans are the party of black/white. All you have to do is look at any random GOPer and see where they have done a 180 on an issue, but only because it has come to impact them personally. I have always been a Democrat because, I thought, a principle characteristic of the liberal/progressive mindset was the ability to see and act upon nuance and gray areas in all manner of human interaction. I’m questioning whether that continues to be the case…

Yet you brought Biden’s Iraq war vote in the discussion of Biden’s history of personal pain as a background to his touch-heavy expressions of compassion.

Some people may be inferring that. The person saying this left no room in their statement for inferring that was their desire:

“For the record, I’d like to see someone other than an aged, white male as the Democratic nominee.”

I am not looking at just 538. Google “sanders national approval ratings”

B.S.'s support of the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA) which gave unprecedented immunity to the firearms industry and gave them, among other things, license to market weapons of war to civilians should eliminate him from consideration. His excuses for his vote have been very Republican in nature and an affront to those who are the victims of gun violence.

All I can say is that I’m glad this Biden insanity is happening now instead of a year from now. I don’t want him as a candidate, but like everyone else, I’d vote for a can of green beans over the current occupant. Let’s air all of our “problems” with the candidates now and then the Moron can take on whoever it is - and let loose with his fiercely incisive and devastatingly targeted attacks (yes, sarcasm).

How quickly they forget!

That’s what I said, too.

You wouldn’t mind if they were aged, white, male green beans?

Oleanna may be due for a revival, but it’s much better with professional actors.

This is the most disgusting political hit job since the attacks on Max Cleland’s patriotism. This sort of desperation to be a victim of something makes me want to throw up. It’s so reminiscent of the right’s culture of perpetual victimhood. I’m both sickened and ashamed of the women engaging in this purely political bullshit and the men, most of whom can barely be paid to look like they give a shit about women’s issues, who are hopping on the bandwagon in hopes of bringing down a political foe. Real victims know this is not a club you want to join and men who respect women don’t use the real pain of sexual assault and harassment to further their political ends. I’m just thankful it appears to be backfiring.

Correction: We’ve had 44 white guys and one black one. I’m correct, we have had 44 white men as President.

Correction: we had 45 presidents. Of them 45 were male, 44 were white and 1 was black.
Yes, the current one is an abomination but he is still technically a president.

No, you’re not coming across as “too mean.”

When I said people ought to be heard with respect, I meant it.

You’re attempting to correct someone else, not me …

Some men feel they can do these things to women no matter what status they have, because being a man gives them that power. I’m a woman, and a professor. I have had male college students give me unwanted and unwelcome physical contact, such as putting their arms around my shoulders. I know they would never do the same towards their male professors.

NOPE! I wouldn’t mind if they were aged, white, male, billionaire, racist, sexist green beans. How’s that for conviction?

So who was it that you suggested has forgotten?

Arrrrgh. You’re right. I’m trying to forget the 44th ever existed.

That’s my story, and I’m sticking to it.
