Which makes me wonder what kind of yes men he has surrounded himself with.
" Donald , what a fantastic speech "
“Donald you’re a great exceptional really really good thinker with a great brain”
"That’s brilliant Donald! The best idea ever in the history of ideas "
I do so love the tale of the Eastern/Trump Shuttle. Trump got snookered when he bought it, quickly destroyed the remaining value by making spectacularly boneheaded business decisions, then left 33 banks holding the bag for over $300 million, all in about 15 months. Classic Trump.
No one on his payroll calls him “Donald.” No one. Hadn’t you noticed? If you take his possibly worthless checks, you call him “Mr. Trump.” Everyone on his pad calls him “Mr. Trump.” No exceptions.
Which tells you all you need to know about what kind of ass-kissers he has on his legal staff. Trump’s history indicates quite clearly that telling Trump stuff he needs to hear but doesn’t want to hear gets you fired. And not just fired, but castigated, humiliated, insulted, and smeared.
I’d say no. I think the entire Republican establishment has decided to stick their fingers in their ears and sing “lalalalalalalala” to anything negative about Trump.
They know they’ll lose in 2016. What remains to be seen is how much damage Trump will do downticket.
This has been my contention for quite some time – but he’s got to wait until he finds a face-saving (from his perspective) way to get out of it, preferably with a suitable scapegoat. My bet is that he makes it to the convention because he just can’t not participate in that sideshow. But I would place all kinds of money on his jumping ship before the general election, particularly when it becomes clear he’s going to lose. His ego wouldn’t survive it.
His brand is already suffering, the WGC moving from his resort down to Mexico because Cadillac pulled its sponsorship was just one example.
I do believe he will rue the day he decided to play this game — at least as much as a narcissist is capable of self-reflection (other than admiring his own image).
Isn’t that like saying that EVERY judge at the Nuremberg Trials should have been disqualified BECAUSE they had a conflict of interest with Nazis?
Trump is basically saying that BECAUSE he is a xenophobic racist/white elitist/supremacist, EVERY judge whose descendants DIDN’T come to America on the Mayflower has an inherent prejudice against him BECAUSE HE is a xenophobic racist/white elitist/supremacist?!
Maybe Trump would prefer an ethnically pure WHITE judge whose son or daughter was enrolled at Trump University?
Correct you are, Mateo…and there’s THIS (From Electoral Vote website to-day)
[What’s Behind the Trump Phenomenon?
Most analysis of 2016, with its twists and turns, has focused on class. The idea is that Donald Trump is appealing to working-class voters who feel screwed by trade agreements, shipping of jobs overseas, etc. Now, a new study by political scientist Philip Klinkner throws that theory into question. He argues that dissatisfaction with the economy and with economic opportunity only correlate lightly with support for The Donald. A much better predictor: Attitudes about race.
More specifically, Klinkner found that the most accurate predictor of Trump support was these two questions: (1) Are you white? and (2) Do you believe Barack Obama is a Muslim? A “yes” to both questions meant a 94% chance that the person was a Trump supporter. Other excellent predictors were the respondent’s level of resentment toward blacks, and whether or not they felt “violent” was a good descriptor for Muslims. Now, there is a fair bit of economic competition underlying most racism, but the study certainly suggests that good old-fashioned demagoguery should be first on the list of reasons people support Donald Trump, with economic populism second. (Z)]
As I suspected, it was never about “economics” or “jobs” with the Trumpers. If it was about jobs, then they (like the downtrodden people in the Great Depression who were grateful for government-sponsored work) would not have consistently supported and voted for GOP jobs-programs-blockers. I may have suspected this for quite some time…but seeing this as the result of an analysis is quite frightening.
Doubtful. Now that the GOP regulars have endorsed him, they are joined at the hip - they don’t dare turn on him. Also, remember the most rabid of the base are full-on Trump supporters and they will take retribution on any turncoats come November.
And not just fired, but castigated, humiliated, insulted, and smeared.
From Mark Bowden’s 2015 article in Vanity Fair:
"It was hard to watch the way he treated those around him, issuing peremptory
orders—“Polish this, Tony. Today.” He met with the lady who selected his
drapery for the Florida estate—“The best! The best! She’s a genius!”—
who had selected a sampling of fabrics for him to choose from,
all different shades of gold. He left the choice to her, saying only, “I want it
really rich. Rich, rich, elegant, incredible.” Then, “Don’t disappoint
me.” It was a pattern. Trump did not make decisions. He surrounded
himself with “geniuses” and delegated. So long as you did not
“disappoint” him—and it was never clear how to avoid doing so—
you were gold.
What was clear was how fast and far one could fall from favor. The trip from
“genius” to “idiot” was a flash. The former pilots who flew his plane were geniuses,
until they made one too many bumpy landings and became “fucking
idiots.” The gold carpeting selected in his absence for the locker rooms
in the spa at Mar-a-Lago? “What kind of fucking idiot . . . ?” I
watched as Trump strutted around the beautifully groomed clay tennis
courts on his estate, managed by noted tennis pro Anthony Boulle.
The courts had been prepped meticulously for a full day of scheduled
matches. Trump took exception to the design of the spaces between
courts. In particular, he didn’t like a small metal box—a pump and
cooler for the water fountain alongside—which he thought looked ugly. He
first questioned its placement, then crudely disparaged it, then kicked
the box, which didn’t budge, and then stooped—red-faced and fuming—to
tear it loose from its moorings, rupturing a water line and sending a
geyser to soak the courts. Boulle looked horrified, a weekend of tennis
abruptly drowned. Catching a glimpse of me watching, Trump grimaced."
There isn’t a shred of doubt in my mind that if Donald Trump were to gain unlimited power, he would take great delight in inflicting physical torture on those who displease him.
To soften them up, he’d force them to eat Trump Steaks, drink Trump Vodka, and watch Trump University presentations on an endless 24/7 loop. After that, they’d be begging for the hot poker in the eyes.
Donald Trump is as much an American as is the Judge. Trump’s mother was born in Scotland and immigrated to the US when she was 18 yrs old. The judge apparently is also first generation American. its a joke when Trump calls all first generation american not Americans??? All you Trump supporters in that particular category step forward to be Shot LOL!
What a wonderful message he is sending to all immigrants and descendants of immigrants. Judge Curiel is a US citizen, born in the US, has a strong record of achievement, and rose to a prominent court position, but remains, for Trump, a “Mexican” with all the negative and false baggage Trump has dumped upon people from that nation.
GOP candidates in most of CA will be paying the Trump campaign to keep him out of the state.
So much to love about this, but I especially like the implication that a white man cannot get a fair trial by a non-white judge. I’m sure Trump and his supporters don’t see a problem with the reverse.
