Discussion: Trump, GOP To Huddle As Outrage Builds Over Administration Border Policy

The subtext here is really important: they are “to huddle as outrage builds” because they either didn’t realize this would be a stunningly unpopular policy, or they didn’t realize they were de facto implementing such a policy.

Exactly! Mueller and team have no dog in this fight. They’ll just keep plugging away on their work while the media goes full throat after this Trump own-goal instead of repeating his baseless squeals of “witch hunt!!!”

The only thing that gives me hope is the stupidity shown by these criminals.

Very plausible assessment. Kudos.

Likening these children and their parents to criminals does not square with the images we are seeing. Crying two to five yr olds do not look like MS-13 members. Pictures of actual children in cages is not summer camp. Listening to audio of hysterical children after being forcibly removed from their parents is not the sound of gangs. Repubs know this. Nevertheless, Trump continues to dehumanize and blame others for his policy. What is happening is does not reflect American values and violates human rights. Common decency flew out the window when he was elected.

You know, I am so angry about everything right now, that I could almost say, so, go ahead and let the bastards screw those short-sighted rural rubes in the red flyover states who voted for the monster in the Oval Office and the rest of the GOP Sturmtroopers. This time it would be completely under the GOP flag, they’d own it, and f*ck them.

But, who wants to see people starve, even if they deserve the morons they put in office.

Sigh. There are no good answers.

Maybe you mean McConnell since Feinstein is a senator? McConnell is one sleazy piece of work. As I understand her bill it only addresses family separation…no frills and no poison pills like the banana republican bills such as Cruz’s.

Hopefully all the deplorable chickens will come home to roost. Let’s see— despicable border policy, stupid trade war, gasoline prices inching up, inflation beginning to rear it’s ugly head, stock market jittery, economic growth slowing down… YEP – his timing might just hit at mid-term election season.

Some of these mess ups are not going to be easy or quick to fix.

The R’s know they’ve lost an issue when Fox news pulls all its coverage. Look at their website; they’re crapping all over Comey some more, and highlighting how some military cadet was discharged for communist sympathies. Not a peep about the child separation policy. Nada.

“I don’t think the answer to family separation is to not enforce the law. I think the answer to family separation is: Don’t separate families while you’re enforcing the law,” Cornyn told reporters. “It’s all within our power, and people have to overcome their desire to preserve an issue to campaign on.”

Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa, the Republican chairman of the Judiciary Committee, said he wants to do away with a legal settlement that requires the government to release children from custody and to their parents, adult relatives or other caretakers, in order of preference.

GOP senators including Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, Jeff Flake of Arizona and Susan Collins of Maine also said they’ve been discussing family separation legislation.

I have to dig down to the end of this GOP press release AP article to hear about Feinstein’s bill that every single Democrat in the Senate has signed up for.

Doh. Yes. But also Ryan since it would have to go through the House too.

Kids are going to get lost. Possibly hundreds.

By “lost”, I mean “sold”.

If you don’t believe me, you are not paying attention. Listen to the border guards making jokes about the kids crying.

This is a winning issue coming at an opportune time. Characterize it as ‘Stop the GOVERNMENT from caging children’. Hopefully the GOP realize this soon, so this BS will stop.

And lying about the Dems. Lots of lies.

I hope that, if they try this gambit, Democrats will be quick to point out how much of a sham bill it is (some of the current proposals on the table are rather atrocious) and, more importantly, that the current Trump policy of separating/caging children had NOTHING to do with Democrats supporting/not supporting a new law and that neither President Obama nor even President (George W.) Bush had the wherewithal to do something like what Trump/Stephen Miller has instituted now.

2016: “I alone can fix it.”

2018: “Congress alone can fix it.”

Yup. They are true believers of “the ends justify the means.”

And, those means are mean.

This is what’s wrong with AP articles:

“Democrats have seized on the family separation issue, swarming detention centers in Texas to highlight the policy. They are demanding that the administration act to keep migrant families together. Republicans are increasingly joining Democrats in that call.”

They write as if this is a political strategy game. And go from there with the both siderism’s and the high broderism’s and all the rest of the can’t tell them apart without a scorecard bs.

What kind of Monsters put children in cages?

Trump cannot back down. Nevermind the personality disorder that makes it impossible. Backing down shows weakness. And nothing is going to make his base turn on him faster than weakness.
