Discussion: Trump Adviser: Candidate Will Soften His Stance On Muslim Ban

Manafort told the Huffington Post that he is confident Trump will win the presidency.

"He gonna win unless we — meaning people like me — screw it up.

That part is true…

This is not a hard race," he said.

that part is also true…

He added that Trump will win without changing his tactics very much.

this part is very debatable.

“You don’t change Donald Trump,” Manafort told the Huffington Post. “You don’t ‘manage’ him."

again debatable

"Hillary is the one who’s got a gender gap.

again true…

And while we are behind among women over all, we’re ahead among white women even now.

and this is the part where the interviewer needed to ask him about his source, which everyone knows will never be revealed.

We’ll get some black and Hispanic women as we go along," he said.

that remains to be seen (again June hasn’t arrived yet)

so he’s preaching to the choir…

It’s a very dangerous joke. He could mess things up royally if elected

OK, I can live with that. “White women” in general would be another matter.

Shorter Manafort: “This isn’t a hard race? I mean my guy has offended just about everybody in American except white working class men. Everybody knows there are more working class white men than the rest of the electorate combined. All we have to do is convince a few foolish women, blacks, Hispanics and Muslims that Mr. Trump isn’t what he says he is or to stay home and we win.”

Sounds a lot like George W. Bush. Skating by on his family fortune with a whole bunch of really great advisers! So what if he couldn’t find oil in Texas?

When I was much younger, I had a pet peeve about those who were misleading about their professed feelings. This is fairly common. The Andy Griffith Show was a success for many years and featured a lot of this. As the years went by, I became a lot more understanding of this, but one might say that a person I was making an opinion of was “unlikable”

I also, at that time, believe that a very bigoted person in my neighborhood was “unlikable”

To my way of thinking, the “unlikability” of the the latter and the former are real, but the REASONS behind the judgements are as important as the sentiments themselves. Making the sociopath Trump and the coolly wonky Clinton as “unlikable” with “high negatives”, without going into any of the reasons for the opinions nor the objective reality behind them is MSM malpractice which goes on every day. There is going to have to be a strategy to deal with this malpractice.

This is not snark to Trump…and there is big time potential in the 17 different ways to Voter Suppress. If the MSM do their job, they’re home, in their mind.

Is it really malpractice? I don’t necessarily see it as anything less than intentional. The press has to sell soap and that means providing the watchers entertainment value. That means a horse race. I am not sure the people at the top of the infotainment food chain don’t want the very race they are getting.

Difficult question to get definite information on

This would indicate that he is not…66% have an unfavorable view of him.

This is more of a focus group than a poll…but it is also painting a bleak picture for Trump among white women.

This election has the potential for the lowest voter turn out in the history of America. I just wish I could convince people that a campaign against Trump isn’t good enough by itself. Hillary has to give young people, independents and minorities a positive reason to fight through all the voter suppression hurdles on election day.

i bet a dollar that he doesn’t want to test that theory.

When one looks at the electoral map, the situation looks daunting for Trump, with some formerly GOP states in play…but I have studied some dictators’ ascension to power and I am the last person to be talking to for “comforting” news.

People fighting back…yes, that is the kind of thing that I am interested in. For example, Luis Gutierrez and Jorge Ramos are now working diligently. Also, there are a number of people who would be extremely disturbed should Trump be elected and roll back what the President is doing with Cuba. I have been looking at some maps which have Texas as NOT deep red…WOW

Horsepucky. You didn’t get those white nationalists on your side by softening your ‘stance’. You are a liar and a carnival barker…the lot of you.

No you don’t. You come here daily to push that meme. You actually are trying to convince people that Hillary’s campaign is DOOMED.

You trot this line out endlessly, despite having been giving lists after lists of her positions, links to her website, white papers, etc. All positions that liberals and progressives strongly agree with. But not you. No, you ignore all of that and insist upon saying its just about being against Trump, and is therefore DOOMED before his magical Svengali-like powers.

Its patently bullshit, but I suspect you will continue repeating it, daily, for rest of the year.

This is where the head-scratching and cultural-disconnect (mine) come in. I cannot conceive that any Americans who are not masochists would need any more reasons (that they can see with their own eyes) for getting their ass to the voting booth and voting against Trump.

SCOTUS alone should do it.

To which this poll says, So?

They aren’t supporting Trump.

“He’s already started moderating on that,” Manafort said. “He operates
by starting the conversation at the outer edges and then brings it back
towards the middle. Within his comfort zone, he’ll soften it some more.”

Hahahahahahaaaaaa(choke)
Keep dreaming Paul
Your man is, to put it simply, an idiot

My first reaction to the headline: “Does Donald Trump know he’ll be doing this?”

That’s pretty much my default reaction to anything from the Trump camp that’s not actually from Trump.

Thanks for the link - note that Trump’s unfavorables among MEN sits at 58%. They may have white male GOPers sown up but that’s an ever decreasing percentage of voters.
