Eventually, so will the market for the same reasons. It will filter down and give a green light to corporate America. It could take years, but I feel it will be the next black swan event if we don’t win the midterms and put a brake on Trump and his cronies. Like they say, a bull market covers a lot of corruption and lawbreaking. When it reverses, the exposure will happen. I’m not feeling too good about Brazil’s chances right now. They have their own Trump running and he’s leading in the polls. The election is today. Too bad, I was going to move there when this country went to hell.
There’s still way too many women who love Trump.

I believe bringing America to its knees is the repuke goal here. They’ll increase their power. Most of us will have our current status eroded away, taken away in large or small chunks until we’re simple pawns, slaves, really. Republican citizens choose not to see or believe this, perhaps they really don’t have enough firing neurons to understand it, even as they watch their status evaporate like a morning mist . They’re ostriches.

He added separately that Kavanaugh’s nomination “started to sail through” after he mocked Blasey Ford.
The ramifications of tRump willingly mocking private citizens getting away with doing so and his followers laughing it up is more than disturbing. I don’t think there is a proper term in our lexicon for this.
I’m not comfortable putting into words what I’d like to do the Orange Wanker Maggot if I had him to myself.

The Brazilian candidate was helped by being stabbed while campaigning. I am sorry you lost your safe place.
I am not surprised that the country favors a right winger today, after all their last 2 presidents were indicted for corruption.

I believe they see it and know darn well it is happening. The miscalculation they have made is that they think it won’t affect THEM. After all, they are white AND republicans. None of this is going to affect them.

Dilma was the least corrupt politician in Brazil. I’m not so sure the Lula charges are not politically motivated and exaggerated. The main Judge in the Petrobras corruption probe is highly political and owned by the right. I invest in Brazil stocks on the NYSE. I follow Brazil news closely.

Some of both, I’m sure. I do think they’ll be absolutely dumbfounded when they finally realize they ain’t never going to make it into the 1% Club, and get a load of the real “economic anxiety” that unbridled republican governance brings.

You have much more confidence in them than I do. When they don’t make it into the elite 1% they will be told and believe that their failure was the fault of the Democrats who obstructed the Republican agenda that would have put the entire country in the top 1% (math is hard for the anti-education party).

I know everyone hates Glenn Greenwald. That said, he did a great interview with Amy Goodman on Brazil a couple years ago. He was spot on on everything he said in that interview. He knows Brazil and their politics. If you’re interested:

There have been a number of elections where seemingly, if women voted in lockstep, outcomes and current history could have been much different.
I would certainly see this November as another chance for that. But past history says we shouldn’t be banking on it.
It is unfair to hang all that responsibility on women, but here we are again. I think Roy Moore perhaps was a harbinger and absent some actual hacking/flipping vote counts…there is reason for optimism.
There are a ton of republican women, however. Betraying their country at the same rate as their men. What could any R voter, who isn’t rich, gain from a Kav court? The end of abortion? That will actually HIT them harder than any other single change of law in the land. They yell and scream about it, but 10 yrs after it is abolished they will be wishing different. Everything else a RW court is going to do will only impoverish them further.
