I was saddended when Perdue eked out a win against Stacey Abrams. His win was so close that it seemed extremely suspicious considering the political hanky-panky that goes on in many states and especially in the South when a black woman is very very close to winning an election for governor. I was not surprised by his very very close win. He will be another awful governor and Georgia has had some doozies in the past. When I moved there in the early 60’s it was the guy who liked to brandish an axe handle. But there were also a number of governors who were not totally awful. The OrangeHorror has so divided this country in every way possible that Abrams was a long shot to win unfortunately. But she came very very close and that should scare the pants off of Perdue and his minions.
The insanely harsh abortion law will be history and hopefully not too many lives will be ruined or crippled by it. My husband and I moved to the west coast in 86. I enjoyed living in the Atlanta suburb where we built our dream house. Within a decade that suburb and others around it had turned black. We had black neighbors when we lived there but white flight apparently ruined any idea of a mixed race subdivision. This is a perpetual problem in the South.
If we vote out the OrangeHorror and many of the creatures who support him hopefully the harsh abortion laws will also be voted out as the poisonous culture that he cultivated & encouraged receeds. One can hope. I have family in Georgia. I wish they were closer so I could see them more than once in a blue moon.
Hopefully once the OrangeHorror is evicted from the White House the level of hatred and division in this country will decline. But I also know there is a culture deeply entrenched in the southern states and a few others that is toxic. Changing that any time soon probably isn’t going to happen.
