I am still too tactical on things, I get that. Its wonderful because I have engaged with two new people, in my mind. But yeah…there is a bigger picture thing going on too that I need to pay attention to as well.
Its easy for me to lose sight of that when I am getting midnight texts from our student organizers, going through the usual last minute worries, and reassuring them…you’ve done good, we’ve got your back, you haven’t missed anything, you’re going to be wonderful. (and of course, they were, as you can see in this local video)
(FYI…they aren’t begging. They are some of the best damn volunteers I have ever seen. One of them did about 90% of the design work for our web. And did all of the design work for my latest city council race. They are FIERCE!! But have a humbling method of engaging that teaches me new stuff every day https://www.okaloosademocrats.com/ )
Its my job to make sure things run smooth, to deal with all the bureaucracy and little shit. Its kinda nice when I make new connections because of that, even if indirectly. And I need to pay better attention.
Not just that…he wants those young folks to solve their own problems. And he said so in a most insulting way. By his comments he doesn’t seem to really believe in representative government.
Those young people are right to get loud and get up in the faces of my generation to make them see that change has become necessary. But I fear that as always Congress will do their best to ignore them. I think it’s necessary…so very necessary to vote the GOP out.
Every time I think we have reached “Peak Dumbass” something happens to blow all the restrictions and all the rules out the window. Everytime I think we have hit bottom with trump’s salacious behavior another porn star, playboy model or former Apprentice contestant shows up to blow the bottom out of the boat. In fact trump does it himself most of the time with stupid comments, tweeters or executive orders. I think I’ll just put it up as a cartoon I found a while back:
This is definitely in the running for the most pathetic response ever. “Well, you’re probably going to get shot but we aren’t going to to sh1t about it so you’d better learn to patch yourselves up” gaaah! Let’s let Santorum fade back into the irrelevancy he so richly deserves.
A lot of kids in this area are home schooled. Usually the parents are religious zealots, but many of them are too lazy to get up and get the kids around in time for school.
Actually I am surprised Rick didn’t suggest that the young people who get shot then do their own medical first aid surgery cuz you can’t ask an adult to fix your problems ya know. I mean these kids should be able to do surgery on themselves without any anesthesia, right? An adult should then drop by and critique the surgical expertise of the wounded kid as he or she writhes in pain.
This has to rank among the most insulting and just plain stupid comment from a former senator I have ever heard and my memory goes back a good 60 years. The first decade of my life, beyond those 60 years, is a hazy one for memories and politics wasn’t high on my list then anyway.
