I was thinking the same thing…does not the government want to talk things over and air the problems out with transparency or do they hope to let it all die down and everyone just go away and not allow the light of day to shine on the governments position of bullying ranchers and private land owners…
Not in this case. Glen had rheumatoid arthritis and some kind of colitis and pneumonia. So it took considerable to take him down. I don’t think he was the “live hard die young” type.

Why not just sell all the land to private land owners and have them pay property taxes like the rest of us? Simple, you get revenue and you quiet the ranchers at the same time…

When she died, she was on 24 different medications. She was 74.

Well they’d say that that land is too regulated to effectively graze their cattle (or more likely, there some minor inconvenience associated with it). But so what? It’s America protecting our resources from the well-documented abuse and ravishing of the land these hypocrites are peddling. In a supreme irony, these folks support the “property-rights” movement where if you own the land, you get to do whatever you want with it, environment be damned. But when it’s someone else’s land that they want to use for their personal profit, they bray and bray about not being able to have their way on it.
Armed, free-loading, anti-American, ignorant arsholes. They are lucky we don’t vaporize these societal vermin. The Feds and the State and the Locals need to absolutely follow-up with charges as soon as fucking possible. We can’t run a country with toxic shit-heads like these any where near policy-making.

In the past people died when they ate bad food. meat included. So now our meat supply is inspected thru the FDA. One of my early teaching experiences happened as a graduate teaching assistant. I was part of a course that taught how to take a cow from standing on the hoof to wrapped steaks. That lab had an FDA inspector there for each step. As for ranchers ,as @Sooner has said up thread a cow has to be shown to be disease free to be sold and the rancher should follow the law and pay the grazing fee if he wants to use federal land. The rancer isn’t forced to use federal land anyway. The Hammonds, the family who are at the center oif this dust up, own 12.000 acres of their own and have used considerably more than that of federal land for years w/o paying the fee. Nothing is stopping them from using their own grass.

Im sorry, did i miss what we did before the FDA started shaking down the Beef Industry??? I realize it is a great industry that brings a lot to the table for the American economy and all the more reason to let them flourish with limited interference!!

1988Ranger - You’d have to ignore the reason a lot of the land is kept by the Feds. The free-enterprising zealots just about trashed America’s western treasures in their pursuit of personal profit many decades ago. Knowledge and awareness says turning it back over to them is foolish and unsustainable.

I was under the impression that the Hammonds were in jail for creating backburns that got out of control and burned federal land that as it turns out actually Increased the value of the federal land. The feds do controlled burns that have gotten out of control that have actually taken private homes…no five years in jail for any feds as far as i am aware. Please site if you know of prosecution of a federal employee for TERRORISM. Its just WACKY is all im saying…
