Discussion: McConnell: Trump Will Sign Border Deal As He Declares Emergency For Wall

I think 70% of us are sick of Trump being President.

Yeah, well, let’s keep in mind that they only do these things because they know Democrats won’t respond in kind - and that the media will make it clear that it’s different when a GOTPer does it.

Imagine the blow back if Obama was doing this

Trump will come out and sing some Kool and the Gang:

Emergency
Emergency, emergency
Emergency
Emergency, emergency

Nick Confessore and others are saying this is McConnell holding the football and Trump punting the problem to the courts and away from the GOP.

You won’t get off so easy, Mitch, you turtle snake.

It thisIt has arrived. The “Valentine’s Day Democracy Massacre”. The day Orange Pustule Hitler personally took the country behind the fascist door for a good hard beating. This Confederate Nazi American faction shall not stand.

Parkland? With apologies, F Parkland!

What about Las Vegas? 900 killed and injured. And crickets. Let me repeat that:. 900 killed and injured.

The most ironclad of wagers is that whatever it’s for, it’s not really planned or mapped out beyond about the next 48 hours. “Oh, shit, Democrats responded how?? Can they do that?! You didn’t tell me they could do that! This is your fault!” will be shouted in the Oval Office by the end of the weekend. You can bet your mortgage on it.

The madness of the administration continues, it will now go to the courts.

To be very honest I am growing tired of this and just want him to go away. Please I will even accept Pence, at least the house can contain him and we know who and what Pence is, tRump is still a mystery even to himself. One thing I am sure of he wants to be a dictator and has attempted to follow the routes others have taken and found they don’t work well in a strong democracy ; but he keeps trying.

This is a point that I did not include, but should not be forgetten. Trump’s emergency is to allow the use of DOD funds or disaster funds. I don’t think he can legally seize the disaster funds, his only real option is military construction funds and/or corp of engineering funds. Yet, these all have established supporters who will be quite pissed off if they are taken.

I’m not sure that it will impact the senate vote (My guess is Trump just declares the Emergency, does not immediately try to seize funds) but if republicans vote with Trump, and he then takes money from their States, their will be another round of blow back. Cornyn in particular needs to be careful about this.

“…Emergency powers are the bread and butter of tyrants…”

Got to win this in court. Who is the plaintiff in a case like this?

Should trump declare martial law I’d like to keep my options open

The House of represenatives, where appropriations have to be initiated. They will pass a resolution to take the matter to Court.

And other Plaintiffs would be anyone whose land was taken for the “wall” and anyone whose project was defunded to pay for the wall.

Lots of Plaintiffs, but the House will be the main one.
