The Senate will pass the bill, he signs it and declares a national emergency, then the Senate goes on vacation. Seriously? If this is a national emergency no one should be leaving the capitol.

Not only him, but I’m wondering how Cornyn, who is up in 2020, is feeling about now? If it’s not MJ Hegar then it might be O’Rourke and either one of them might be thinking now is the time to strike.

There is a long line of republicans who are vulnerable in 2020, in order they are probably:

Gardner (CO)
Collins (ME)
McSalley (AZ)
Thom Tillis (NC)
Joni Ernst (IA)
David Perdue (GA)

And I think that Cornyn (TX) is vulnerable as well, and the wall is NOT very popular in Texas, so its a very bad issue for him to take a stand on.

None of these senators will be helped by going along with an illegal theft of money (which will come from either flood control projects or military construction funds) by Trump.

While I like the sound of it I’d prefer that the Dems thoroughly “war game” the matter with the 2020 elections in mind. Because the 2020 election is why tRump is choosing to do this right now. He thinks he can use immigration to suck up all the oxygen and stifle the Democrats from gaining traction with other issues during the campaign.

He desperately needs immigration to be the ONLY issue in 2020.

I think most of this is to change the Mueller-McCabe news cycle. I actually don’t believe the WH knows how to craft such a declaration in a way that could be executed.
